Getting to know Amanda Blancas

DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, I CANNOT prescribe controlled medications/substances in Texas. However, I CAN still see patients there, offer alternative treatment plans, and prescribe NON-CONTROLLED medications. As a bilingual Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) fluent in English and Spanish, I am dedicated to delivering compassionate, comprehensive, and evidence-based care to individuals navigating mental health challenges. My approach combines advanced clinical expertise with a strong commitment to patient-centered and culturally responsive care. I strive to build therapeutic relationships that foster trust, empower clients, and support healing and overall well-being. I stay current with evolving best practices and research through ongoing professional development, ensuring that the care I provide is of the highest quality. My ultimate goal is to help each patient achieve optimal mental health through collaborative, individualized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs and goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As your provider, my goal is to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and supported. I understand that seeking mental health care can be a vulnerable step, and I want you to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. I take a collaborative, patient-centered approach—meaning we’ll work together to understand your experiences, set goals, and create a treatment plan that aligns with your values and needs. I welcome open communication and encourage you to ask questions, express concerns, and take an active role in your care. Whether you’re managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or other challenges, I’m here to help guide you toward healing and improved well-being—at a pace that feels right for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we begin working together, our first session will focus on getting to know you and your history, current challenges, goals, and any previous experiences with mental health treatment. This comprehensive evaluation helps me understand the full picture so we can create a treatment plan that’s truly tailored to your needs. From there, we’ll work collaboratively to decide on the best course of care, which may include therapy, medication management, lifestyle support, or a combination. I always take your preferences and comfort into account, and I believe in explaining options clearly so you feel informed and empowered throughout the process. As we continue, I’ll regularly check in on your progress and make adjustments as needed. My approach is flexible, supportive, and focused on helping you achieve meaningful, lasting improvements in your mental health and overall well-being.
