About Dr. Amir Annabi
Dr. Amir Annabi is a board-certified and fellowship-trained physiatrist who specializes in providing patients with the optimal nonoperative care for musculoskeletal injuries, particularly pain and injury of the spine. His focus is on treatments to address underlying biomechanics, improve function and lifestyle, and control pain.
Dr. Annabi received his medical degree from New York University and completed his internship in general surgery at New York Presbyterian Columbia/Cornell, including rotations in neurosurgery during which he assisted in minimally invasive spine surgery. He then completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York Presbyterian Columbia/Cornell, followed by a post-graduate fellowship in spine and sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He is also a Castle Connolly Top Doctor
Dr. Annabi’s training focused on nonsurgical treatment of joint injuries and back pain, including the use of precision fluoroscopic- and ultrasound-guided injections. While at the Hospital for Special Surgery, his research focused on investigating the development and use of regenerative treatments for degenerative conditions of the tendons, joints, and spine, such as the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and growth factors.
Dr. Annabi has been involved as a medical volunteer providing coverage for the New York City Marathon as well as high school and collegiate sports teams. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FAAPMR).

Dr. Annabi is an excellent physician, who is patient, calm, and very knowledgeable. He reviewed MRI results with me, explaining everything in a succinct and clear way. Dr. Annabi made sure to explain the steps I can take to improve the health of my back, and I left his office feeling empowered. On a more general note, the office is squeaky clean, and I was seen even before the start of my scheduled appointment time.

I had a great experience! I was greeted by a med tech for help getting checked in. Was seen right away. Xray done. Met with the doctor who fully explained the situation, offered immediate relief and a plan. I was in and out in 12 minutes. The staff was wonderful, courteous and helpful. I will definitely go back.

Dr Annabi explained everything very well. Was not in a rush, and showed me the X-rays and pointed out the issues. He listened to my issues without cutting me off and rushing. I would recommend him. When I walked in it was I guess after there lunch and there was a long line to check in which took 20 minutes after that I was called in like 10 minutes later.

Although the wait was over an hour the doctor was kind and seemed thorough with his note taking. I am disappointed however because it appears he is only taking new patients for their initial visits. When I tried to book my follow up appt it shows he is not available for 6 months but is available for new patients. I need to be back in a week or so once my MRI’s are completed and Im in tremendous pain and now I will need to see a different doctor there? That’s not ideal for continuity of care.

They let me see the doctor but then after the appointment they said they didn’t take my insurance and I would have to pay but they took it first I think the secretary made a mistake and should have told me I am not paying that bill and they doctor was very depressing too. Bad experience

I recently had a very pleasant experience at the doctor's office. The doctor not only listened to my concerns but also took the time to answer all of my questions without any hint of condescension. He even suggested alternative options for treatment, which I appreciated. When giving his opinion, he made it clear that it was just his personal opinion and not within his scope of practice, so he did not pretend to be an expert. Overall, it was a great experience and I was happy to have chosen this particular doctor for my appointment.
