Dr. Amit Poonia is a board certified Interventional Pain Management Specialist and Anesthesiologist. After completing his internship at Georgetown University Hospital, Dr. Poonia completed his anesthesia residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and served as a Chief Resident in the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Poonia then completed his Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at NYU and has been board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology for both anesthesia and pain medicine.
Awarded America’s Top Physician Award in 2013, 2014 and 2015, Dr. Poonia continually strives to improve the quality of care for his patients. Dr. Poonia is actively involved as a speaker and clinical instructor for various organizations across the nation.
Dr. Poonia has expertise in the treatment of a variety of painful conditions including neck and lower back pain, joint pain, myofascial pain syndrome and complex regional pain syndrome, through the use of minimally invasive techniques such as epidural steroid injections, selective nerve root blocks, radiofrequency ablations, major joint injections, spinal cord stimulation and pulse stimulation treatment. Dr. Poonia supports a multimodal team based approach to the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of painful disorders. Working with medical health professionals, Dr. Poonia is dedicated to providing every patient with the highest quality of medical care.
