Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
7196 CROSSWATER, TYLER, TX
Amy Nunn, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner with 25 years of nursing experience, including more than 20 years caring for women and families in labor and delivery. Amy takes a down-to-earth, whole-person approach to mental health. She believes our well-being is shaped by much more than a diagnosis—including our physical health, hormones, sleep, stress, relationships, and daily lives. She is especially passionate about women’s mental health, including infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause. Amy views mental health treatment as a toolbox. Medication may be one important tool, but therapy, healthy routines, meaningful relationships, movement, sleep, and stress management can all play a role. Together, she works with each patient to find the tools that best support their individual needs and goals. Her faith guides her care with compassion, grace, and respect for each person’s beliefs and values. Most importantly, Amy wants every patient to feel comfortable being themselves, heard without judgment, and hopeful about what comes next.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Expect a conversation—not just a medication check. I want to understand both what you’re experiencing and what’s happening in your life. Together, we’ll look at the whole picture, talk honestly about your options, and choose the tools that make the most sense for you right now. You don’t have to change everything at once. My goal is for you to feel heard, involved in your care, and treated like a person—not a diagnosis.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start by listening. I want to understand your story, what you’re experiencing, and what may be contributing to how you feel before we decide what needs to be treated. Together, we’ll build a personalized plan using the tools that make sense for you—whether that includes medication, therapy, coping skills, healthy routines, or other sources of support. My philosophy is simple: care for the whole person, not just the disorder. Progress happens one small, sustainable step at a time, and you don’t have to be at your worst to deserve support.
