About Dr. Andrew Jarad Peranteau
Dr. Jarad Peranteau is a (board-certified) dermatologist in New York City. He is originally from San Antonio, TX. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Richmond, and shortly after graduating moved to Australia on a temporary work visa. After his work visa in Australia ended, for the next year he backpacked throughout Southeast Asia, Fiji, and New Zealand, and during this time realized his true calling was in helping others.
Despite having none of the pre-requisite courses he needed for medical school, he returned to the U.S. and committed himself to that goal, earning his medical degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center- El Paso. He subsequently completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, TX. Dr. Peranteau then completed a clinical research fellowship in dermatology at Center for Clinical Studies in Houston, TX, where he was in charge of over 30 ongoing clinical research projects. He completed his dermatology residency at New York Medical College where he was recognized for his outstanding leadership and clinical skills by serving as chief resident during his final year. During, his time in residency he was awarded the Metropolitan Hospital Employee of the Month, rarely given to residents, for his commitment to patient care, as well as the Cynthia Saporito Resident Award for research and clinical contributions.
Dr. Peranteau has more than 20 dermatology industry publications in peer-reviewed journals and books chapters in addition to presentations at national, state, and local dermatology meetings, and is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology. He believes strongly in educating his patients and working together to enhance skin health and beauty, and believes in tailoring his skin care regimens with careful consideration of factors specific to each patient and skin type. He also vows to treat every patient as if they were a member of his own family.
When not seeing patients he is usually trying to discover delicious new food to eat, watching movies, hanging out with his French Bulldog, Louie, or thinking about exercising. He also loves to travel and experience different cultures.
