Getting to know Angelica Pucha

Hi, my name is Angelica, and I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in Illinois. I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, depression, insomnia and sleep issues, bipolar disorder, life transitions, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), seasonal affective disorder (SAD), anger and impulse management, and college and graduate student mental health. With over 20 years of nursing experience and post-master’s psychiatric training from the University of Maryland, I provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected, and cared for.

What should a new client know about working with you?

PLEASE NOTE, I’M IN-NETWORK WITH AETNA, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD, CIGNA, MAGELLAN HEALTH, MEDICARE, OSCAR, OXFORD, AND UNITED HEALTHCARE. I DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICAID. My therapeutic style is characterized by warmth, engagement, and a genuine personal connection. I am committed to providing a client-centered, evidence-based, holistic approach to care. In collaboration with the patient, I develop personalized treatment plans unique to their history, lifestyle factors, and genetic variables and offer support through their mental health journey. While serving as a Navy Nurse, I witnessed firsthand the invisible wounds carried by many Service Members returning from combat. I saw the emotional toll deployment had on them — the anxiety, depression, and PTSD that too often went untreated due to stigma or lack of access to care. Watching people suffer in silence, especially those who had already sacrificed so much, stirred something in me. I knew I wanted to do more than just recognize their pain — I wanted to be part of their healing, that’s why I became a Psych NP. Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Booking Process: Request your appointment time on Zocdoc. My office will email you an online intake form to ensure I’m able to help you. If we’re a fit, we’ll reach out to confirm an appointment time. I try my best to keep slots available each week for new clients. Your First Visit: The initial session is a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation which allows me to understand your current symptoms and difficulties, and learn about important aspects of your past psychiatric, medical, social, educational, and family histories. At the end of the session, we’ll determine the best treatment course. Session frequency ranges from weekly to monthly depending on the type of treatment you’re looking for. If you’re already seeing a therapist, I’m happy to collaborate with them while guiding the medication aspect of your treatment. However, many of my clients see me for both therapy and medication management. My practice, Lavender Psychiatry, is founded and fueled by board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who create therapeutic journeys that are kind, convenient and transparent so that people can flourish. We have a fantastic team that works together to ensure our clients are well taken care of. This includes our care concierge team who is available 7 days a week between your appointments, to help answer questions and assist with any issues regarding coverage and prescriptions etc. We also have covering providers in case I’m away and an urgent matter arises. I look forward to meeting you and helping you in your journey to a brighter future!

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront
