Hello, my name is Dr. Desai, I was born and raised in New Jersey. I completed my undergraduate training at Rutgers University and obtained my medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. I completed my residency training in Psychiatry at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker School of Medicine in Southwest Michigan, which was primarily focused on working in a rural area in a community hospital. My areas of expertise and strengths include mood and anxiety disorders as well as providing supportive psychotherapy. My approach involves collaborating with my clients in a supportive and empathic manner and I place utmost importance on building a therapeutic alliance and a safe environment. I am very passionate about providing mental health care to all those in need and greatly looking forward to working alongside Uptown Psychiatry within the wonderful city of Chicago!

I would recommend Dr. Desai. His diagnosis is based on him asking the right questions, combining with his subject matter knowledge makes him the best.
Most important is his empathy for the patient. Just talking to him I feel better.

Dr. Desai was wonderful. He asked questions that made sense and made sure to check in frequently to make sure I was fully understanding and following the reasons behind his questions. He took a lot of time to make sure I was getting what I needed out of the appointment and was very quick with his responses when I emailed follow up questions about referrals.
