What should a new client know about working with you?

I have been caring for patients since 2003 as both a nurse and nurse practitioner, and I currently practice in South Jordan, Utah. Over the years, I’ve come to understand how important it is to develop treatment plans that focus on the whole person—not just their symptoms. My approach centers on creating individualized, compassionate care that reflects each patient’s unique needs and experiences. My career in nursing has led me to develop a strong passion for the treatment of mental health conditions. I have obtained my board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, which allows me to provide more comprehensive mental health care. The majority of my career has been dedicated to helping patients who are often overlooked. I have worked closely with individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability, those facing substance use or addiction challenges, and patients who are uninsured or underinsured. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a chance at a happy and fulfilling life, regardless of their resources. I strive to help my patients overcome barriers, build resilience, and keep moving forward. Outside of my professional life, I am a proud mom and grandmother, and I cherish spending time with my family above all else.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to working with patients is collaborative, thoughtful, and centered on the whole person. I begin with a comprehensive evaluation, taking time to understand not only symptoms, but also medical history, lifestyle, stressors, and personal goals. I believe that truly listening is the foundation of effective care. From there, we work together to develop an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, therapy recommendations, lifestyle changes, or other supportive interventions. I prioritize education so patients feel informed and confident about their care, and I encourage open communication to ensure the plan remains aligned with their needs. Follow-up care is an essential part of my process. I regularly reassess progress, make adjustments as needed, and remain accessible for questions or concerns. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where patients feel empowered, respected, and actively involved in their journey toward improved mental health and overall well-being.
