Dr. Arun Singh’s approach to treatment is guided by four motifs: compassion, comprehension (of the problem(s)--often rooted in a web of intersecting biological, psychological, and social factors)--cultural sensitivity, and use of cutting-edge pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment modalities. His practice is open for consultations and the treatment of mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders and also features the distinctions of treating addictions, offering non-interventional pain management, and treating a wide array of psychiatric issues in the elderly. When appropriate, treatment with buprenorphine is also offered.
Dr. Singh attended medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Residency in Psychiatry at State University of New York (SUNY), Stony Brook, where he also served as Chief Resident. He also completed a Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian Hospital(NYPH). Before exclusively practicing privately, he continued at NYPH as Psychiatrist in inpatient settings and the electroconvulsive therapy service. He went on to become Chief of the Inpatient Addiction Recovery Services program. He concurrently served as faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College, providing clinical training and lectures to its medical students, Psychiatry Residents, and Geriatric Psychiatry Fellows.
Among his other accomplishments, he has authored and co-authored scholarly papers, and lectured and created posters about self-injury and suicide.
He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
