Dr. Christopher Laurie, MD

Psychiatrist
330 W 58th St, Ste 401, New York, NY
I believe that mental health is deeply personal, as well as socially mediated. I aim to create a supportive and at times appropriately challenging environment to explore your values, goals, and the contributors to your wellbeing. My approach focuses on utilizing therapy to explore important relationships, the meaning of life experiences, and to bolster coping and self-efficacy. At the same time, my medical background allows me to incorporate medications when necessary. I have completed specialized training in both general psychiatry (Mt Sinai) as well as psychosomatic medicine (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center), a subspecialty that focuses on the interaction between physical illness and mental health. I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at several New York hospitals. I work across a wide range of issues and life stages, from college and graduate students to seniors and end-of-life care.

More information on payments and coverage

I do not participate directly in any insurance plans and am considered an out-of-network provider. Initial sessions are up to 70 minutes, and follow-up sessions are 45 minutes. All sessions are a flat rate of $450. The fee is always charged on the day of the session. Many insurance plans have generous out-of-network benefits that provide reimbursement for a substantial portion of fees (often 60-80%). I will supply the necessary documents for reimbursement filings. I accept electronic payments via debit, credit or FSA/HSA card.
