Atsushi Sakuraba, MD, PhD, is a gastroenterologist who specializes in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). He also is interested in gastrointestinal endoscopy, microscopic colitis (lymphocytic colitis and collagenous colitis), colon cancer, fecal transplant for C difficile infection, and clinical trials of novel drugs.
Dr. Sakuraba's research aims to better understand how and why inflammatory bowel disease develops in order to provide more effective treatment options. He is studying the efficacy and safety of several novel drugs designed to treat inflammatory bowel disease.
