About Dr. Basem Hakim

Basem Hakim, DPM, MD, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, one of the top medical schools in Egypt, earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree. Dr. Hakim worked as a missionary physician in Africa for more than three years. In 2013, he moved to the United States to begin a new chapter, becoming ECFMG certified after successfully completing the US Medical Licensing Examination. He then earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Hakim completed a three-year post-doctoral residency in podiatric surgery at Huntington Hospital, Northwell Health, where he served as Chief Resident. His extensive training covered all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, including sports-related trauma, elective reconstructive surgery, arthroscopic surgery, and the medical management of various podiatric pathologies. He also received additional training in wound care and advanced tissue healing, including the use of different types of grafts. Dr. Hakim is especially passionate about sports medicine and foot and ankle surgeries involving deformity correction. He believes that proper communication with his patients about their conditions is essential to providing individualized care tailored to each patient’s goals and lifestyle through evidence-based medicine. Traveling has been one of the highlights of his life, offering overwhelming experiences and valuable perspectives. In his free time, he enjoys spending quality moments with his wife and two daughters.
