Brett Simenhoff, MD
Dr. Simenhoff is a board certified general surgeon and specialist in minimally invasive bariatric surgery. He completed general surgery residency at Mount Sinai in New York followed by fellowship at Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital in California. He is excited to be back in New York to help patients navigate their weight loss journeys and manage their medical related issues. He uses laparoscopic and robotic techniques to perform gastric sleeve, gastric bypass and to treat a variety of conditions including gastrointestinal reflux, hernia repair and gallbladder disease.
Dr. Simenhoff is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

Dr. Simenhoff is truly an exceptional surgeon. From the very beginning, he was informative, compassionate, and took the time to make sure I felt understood and supported throughout the entire process. His thoughtful approach and attention to detail made me feel confident every step of the way.
What impressed me most was how amazing I felt post-op — his skill and precision are unmatched. My recovery was smooth, my incisions healed beautifully with minimal scarring, and I was shocked at how great my recovery has been. I can’t thank him enough for his care and expertise.

I had my surgery done by Dr.Brett Simenhoff, all I can say is that he is very professional, knowledgeable and reassuring. From the moment I went to the Initial consultation he was very helpful and answered all questions I had regarding the surgery. I am extremely happy with the care I was given. I highly recommend Dr. Simenhoff and his entire team. The Admin staff and the PA’s were all great. I am extremely happy I did my gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. Simenhoff. Five+ stars to Dr. Simenhoff and NYBG.

Dr. Simenhoff, and staff were very welcoming, and friendly, and the environment was calm. My wait time to be seen each time I visited was very minimal, and he took the time to thoroughly listen to my concerns, and answer all my questions. If you are thinking about scheduling a visit, I would highly recommend NYBG, as my experience has been nothing but great with them.

I had my surgery done on April 8th,2024 with doc Brett. He is AMAZING. He communicated perfectly. During appointments he answered all my questions. He called me almost every week prior to my surgery date to insure i was doing the right things and eating healthy. Then after my surgery he still calls and makes sure I’m taking all my vitamins. Highly recommend!

I am eternally grateful for the personal dedication Dr Simenhoff has towards helping me get healthy. Dr Simenhoff went above and beyond to make sure the surgery and recovery was successful. It’s been a month and he still continues to schedule appointments to make sure everything is going smoothly. His personal mission is to make sure his patients are as comfortable as possible after surgery. No matter what day or time, he is easy to reach and will also call on his own to make sure you are well. I have already referred Dr Simenhoff to multiple people. Dr. Simenhoff took over my care after Dr. Nishimaura retired. Dr. Simenhoff was extremely thorough, asked the right questions reviewed everything new with me and made some great suggestions. I recommend him as a doctor and the NYBG for your weightloss surgery.

Just walking in the door the atmosphere was very welcoming, from reception to the visit with the Dr. Simenhoff. Not once did I feel uncomfortable talking about or the happenings in my life with the doctor. He make my visit feel 'real', meaning he was genuinely interested in learning who I was and about me. I can't wait for my journey to continue with Dr. Simenhoff. I was able to walk out of the office feeling confident that my journey would be my great success story.

It's really hard to find a doctor (I thought nearly impossible) that will listen and respond thoughtfully to your concerns, but Dr. Simenhoff is it! I even mentioned something off hand and he went out of his way to get me a referral and get it to me THE NEXT DAY.
He is someone that is completely in the right profession because it is apparent that he cares about his patients. That's huge! Thanks so much, doc!
