Getting to know Candice Jeffers

I'm Candice Jeffers, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a unique background that combines critical care nursing expertise with specialized mental health training. I recently completed my Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of South Alabama, bringing fresh knowledge and evidence-based approaches to patient care. My journey in healthcare spans nearly a decade, including nine years as a Cardiovascular ICU Supervisor where I developed exceptional crisis management skills and learned to address mental health concerns in high-stress medical environments. This experience taught me the importance of seeing patients holistically – understanding how physical and mental health interconnect. I specialize in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and urgent mental health consultations across all age groups. My training includes expertise in suicide risk assessment, trauma-informed care, and addiction psychiatry (MOUD certified). I'm particularly skilled at helping patients navigate mental health crises while providing compassionate, evidence-based treatment. What sets my practice apart is my ability to remain calm under pressure while building genuine therapeutic relationships. I believe in collaborative care, working closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that emphasize medication adherence and comprehensive aftercare. My goal is to provide accessible mental health care through telehealth services, ensuring patients receive timely support when they need it most. I'm committed to patient education and empowerment, helping individuals understand their conditions and treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their mental health journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Beginning or continuing psychiatric care is a meaningful step, and I hold that responsibility with clinical skill and deep respect for the trust you are placing in me. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in medication management, I am committed to care that is thorough, personalized, and rooted in genuine compassion. My process begins with truly listening. Before exploring any medication options, I want to fully understand your experience — the symptoms you are navigating, how long they have been present, what you have tried before, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You deserve a provider who sees the full picture, not just the presenting concern. My practice is a safe, nonjudgmental space where honesty is always welcomed. As we work together, you will find that I am thoughtful and deliberate in both assessment and prescribing. I consider your complete health picture, potential interactions, lifestyle, and personal preferences. I explain medication options in plain language, set realistic timelines, and ensure you know what to watch for. I never rush this process — getting it right matters far more than getting it done quickly. I am equally committed to staying accessible throughout your care. Mental health does not wait for scheduled appointments, and I want you to feel genuinely supported between visits — whether we are adjusting medications, managing side effects, or recognizing your progress. You will have a consistent, invested provider by your side. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and am dedicated to fostering an inclusive, respectful environment where your identity and lived experiences are honored as essential parts of your care. My goal extends beyond symptom relief — I want to help you rediscover joy and reconnect with what matters most. That is the kind of care you deserve.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I approach every person I work with through genuine curiosity and empathy, recognizing you as the foremost authority on your own experiences. That belief shapes everything about how I practice. Your first visit begins with a thorough evaluation. We will discuss your presenting symptoms, how long they have been affecting you, your prior treatment history, family psychiatric background, physical health, and current life circumstances. This helps me understand not only what you are going through, but the broader context surrounding it — and how we can work together most effectively to address it. Every detail you share helps me see the full picture. Treatment planning is always a true partnership. After our assessment, I will share my clinical impressions in plain, accessible language and propose a personalized plan that may include medication, therapy referrals, lifestyle changes, or some combination. When reviewing medication options, I go into real depth — how they work, potential benefits, possible side effects, and what alternatives exist. Your perspective actively shapes the direction we take, and no decision is ever made without your full understanding and genuine agreement. I track both symptom improvement and real-world functioning, because feeling better should show up in your daily life — not just on a rating scale. Progress looks different for every person, and I invest time in understanding what meaningful improvement actually means to you. Celebrating small wins along the way matters too. Between sessions, open communication is always welcome. If you notice significant side effects, major life changes, or worsening symptoms, please reach out rather than waiting. I respond dependably, because timely support can make a real difference. When appropriate, I coordinate with other providers involved in your care and am glad to help connect you with additional resources — because collaborative care consistently produces the strongest outcomes. You are not alone.

Super easy to talk to and down to earth. Very grateful we got connected
Never recieved a link for my appointment so I called 45 minutes before. Was told I'd recieve contact by this doctor, no word. Called exactly at my appointment time, was told that I'll recieve an immediate callback, still no word. Called again 20 minutes into my appointment and was just told "sorry, we don't know what happened". This isn't the field to be ghosting people crying out for help.

Candice is amazing, I’m a 100% disabled veteran with PTST who see a therapist and psychologist thru the VA and I wish she was my provider. She is not only compassionate but knowledgeable and supportive and the fact that she and all the team members are easily and readily available is amazing. Thank you so so much!?? Bill McDonald , for the patient Margaret Godina, my sister
I was so terrified to re-start any sort of mental health services and treatment, but Candice made me 1. feel so heard, 2. feel understood, and 3. helped distill down a very actionable plan. By far an amazing experience.
Candice has been nothing short of exemplary in my treatment, and I am both immensely grateful and impressed by the lengths that she will go to support you, both in and out of therapy. I cannot recommend Candice enough as someone who will treat you like a person, rather than your diagnosis, and respect your autonomy as a patient. There are few therapists that will hold themselves to the same moral standard, and I am lucky to have worked with such an empathetic and dedicated provider.
Overall, Candice was receptive to my ideas and contributions to my own self-care. From my perspective, she likely sees a high volume of patients and may have developed certain expectations about how they present. She initially pushed back on my description of living with untreated ADHD as an adult with a postgraduate degree, but ultimately, she listened, considered my perspective, and provided a clear path forward.
Candice is great! She’s warm, kind, and really listens. I felt comfortable right away and never rushed. She explained things clearly and made me feel truly cared for. Highly recommend!
Candice was absolutely wonderful. She's warm, compassionate, takes time to listen and understand you and talks to you through the entire session. I can't wait for my next visit!
Candice is the best! Highly recommend.
From my first visit with Candice I knew she was meant for me. She cares about me and and understands me so much. She's very on point with my diagnosis and treatment. She has a wonderful personality and makes me feel so comfortable. I would definitely recommend Candice. She's the best.
Best psych I’ve ever seen
Candice is very caring and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs her service. She is quick to respond and very attentive to her patients.
I had a very positive experience during my recent visit. Candice took the time to listen to my concerns thoroughly and explained everything clearly. I felt heard, respected, and never rushed. She answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable with the next steps in my care plan. It’s reassuring to know that there are healthcare professionals who genuinely care and go above and beyond to provide excellent patient care. I highly recommend Candice to anyone looking for compassionate, knowledgeable, and respectful medical support.
I’ve really enjoyed meeting with Candice. She gives me hope and I really get the feeling that she’s there for me no matter what. She obviously knows what she’s doing and puts together a game plan to make sure the patient gets better.
Candice is amazing! She is very knowledgeable, understanding, insightful, and gives accurate information on how to best support you. She is by far the best doc I’ve had in years.
Candice has been absolutely amazing. She was able to understand my current state and offer insight and prescribe the best medications to suit my needs. It felt great to finally feel seen and I’m not sure where I would be without her. If you’re looking for a psychiatrists, she’s the best. Consider yourself lucky if you get to be her patient, would be my honest feedback. She is a blessing! Also, the most intelligent and accomplished medical professional I have ever spoken to.
