Charles Maddix, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Mr. Maddix served four years in the United States Navy as a Naval Hospital Corpsman. After receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy he attended and graduated from Florida State College at Jacksonville with his associate degree in nursing and has been a registered nurse since 2000. Mr. Maddix is an alumnus of Jacksonville University, where he received his baccalaureate of science in nursing degree. His nursing experience over the past 20 years include oncology, medical and surgical intensive care, liver transplant, HIV/AIDS, mental health and substance abuse, and as a medical research coordinator conducting mental health and substance abuse research with NIDA, in collaboration with the University of Miami. Mr. Maddix also has 4 years of experience implementing evidence-based practice programs in public, community, and social health programs, and writing program evaluations for SAMHSA.
Mr. Maddix is an alumnus of Saint Louis University (SLU) where he graduated with a Masters of Science in Nursing and is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Over the last 4 years he was fortunate enough to work side-by-side Dr. Raul Soto-Acosta, MD in private practice. He currently works full time at Wekiva Springs Center and spends his afternoons at The Practice with Raul Soto-Acosta, MD and Kristin Barrett, APRN, PMHNP-BC.
Mr. Maddix has always had an affinity for working with children and adolescents. He will tell you: “Someone told me one day I had a gift working with kids, since then I have tried following her advice and touch as many young lives as I can. If I make one of them smile just for a brief moment, then I’ve done my job”.
