My mom has been suffering from low back pain since 1998. She had 2 back surgeries which made her pain worse. She had been depending on norco and soma all this time. Dr. Zhao is now treating my mom, and after a few series of injections, physical therapy, and acupuncture my mom is 85 % better and is walking without a walker or cane. I am so thankful for Dr. Zhao and his team. My recommendation to you who are reading my commitment: Do not go with a doctor who will only prescribe you pain meds. Do not go with a doctor who will promise you to get rid of your pain completely. Do not go with a doctor who will treat only your findings on a mri and ignoring your symptoms. Instead go to see Dr. Zhao.

What an incredible doctor. I have been suffering low back pain for over 8 years. I had failed surgery and i was giving pain meds like crazy. Today i discovered there is hope, there is relief and there is a life waiting for me without norco, soma or morpine. Dr. Zhao made me realized i was building up an addition to all of this meds. I will definitely recommend this doctor. His staff are wonderful and his office is amazing.

More about Dr. Chong-hao Zhao, MD, PhD

Chong-hao Zhao, MD, PhD, is a quadruple board certified neurologist. He has received subspecialty training in headache medicine and pain management from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, which is consistently ranked among the top four best hospitals nationwide by U.S. News and Word Report magazine. He established the California Headache and Pain Center in Burbank, CA in 2004. The center relocated in 2014 to 420 West Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, in an over 7,300 sq. Spacious newly remodeled medical building, right next to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. Dr. Zhao has a special interest in treating intractable headaches and pain. Dr. Zhao practices both Western and Eastern medicine in order to reduce headaches and pain, applying the holistic treatment concept. He introduced an innovative headache relief method to the medical community using a combination of complex intravenous infusion, spinal intervention, botulinum toxin injections, psychotherapy, biofeedback and acupuncture. This combination of therapy detoxifies the chemicals acquired from overused medications, blocks the pain transmission from the irritated anatomical structures, and trains the brain to understand that pain no longer exists; thereby providing lasting relief from headaches. In addition, he is an interventional pain specialist, treating chronic neck and low back pain. He has received pain diagnosis and treatment skills training in the fields of neurology, anesthesiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and acupuncture. Dr. Zhao has a number of publications in headache, pain, and acupuncture. He speaks nationally on the topics of headache and pain, and is a lecturer of the Graduate Orofacial Pain Program at UCLA.

This doctor was not interested learning about my problem, and thus how to treat it. He assumed i was just hoping he would prescribe narcotics for pain (i wasn't) and at that point he was done trying to figure out anything. I have peripheral neuropathy and have not found an answer. After this visit, nothing has changed. I am mad that i wasted my co-pay Trying to be treated for chronic pain in this country is very difficult. If you advertise as a pain specialist i would hope you have many choices for the patient, not just another drug. I was told that even among pain specialists, there are sub-specialists. That is ridiculous. This place advertises itself as a headache and pain clinic.

I had to wait about an hour to be seen, the visit overall went fine and give me hope for resolution to my problems. However it's been more than a week and I have not been able to schedule an MRI as prescribed by the dr. because his office staff just will not take care of the issue. I have contacted them twice in regards to updates and noone knows what is going on. Very frustrated as I am in pain.
Very good doctor he cared a good deal
Extremely pleased @ first visit. I have been passing out Dr. Zhao's business card throughout the Antelope Valley. Post-epidural injection - Dr. Zhao and his staff were amazingly caring & compassionate. The procedure was near pain free. Thank you Dr. Zhao & staff.
