Dr. Christopher Hiura is a friendly and compassionate optometrist serving his patients in a third generation private practice that was established in 1949. Dr. Hiura is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley’s School of Optometry after receiving his Bachelor’s degree graduating Cum Laude from the University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Hiura is glaucoma certified and has interned with the San Francisco VA Medical Center where he co-managed many cases of ocular disease with the UCSF Ophthalmology department. Dr. Hiura then served on the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, where he practiced primary care-based optometry, including acute eye care, co-management of refractive surgery care (LASIK and PRK), and contact lens fittings. He then partnered with the Miami VA Medical Center where Optometry and Ophthalmology collaborate closely. Dr. Hiura completed his rotations at the Meredith W. Morgan University Eye Center, where he focused on low vision, binocular vision vision therapy, visual functions, and specialty contact lenses.
In his spare time, Dr. Hiura enjoys being active, playing sports such as basketball and golf, as well as traveling.

Patient with me at the diagnostic machine. He did use an eye-dropper ophthalmic solution for some kind of test, which I had never had done before; leaves a yellowish hue to your vision for several minutes, and can be staining, I think.

Very thorough but feel he did not understand that possibly my phobia of doctors and my tenseness might be contributing to my blood pressure being even higher than it would be normally. I then had trouble finding the ophthalmologist on Bush because their window was whited out or something and I could not see properly. Now I have to go to 7th and Mission to get help applying fort Medicare when I was hoping someone in either office could help me do so. Now I'm worried that all my money will go to Medicare, etc. and I will be broke like I was before I paid off a big bill so I could get glasses to help me see better. Was looking forward to picking out new glasses - so I do hope I will be able to do so in the near future from you... Thank y9u for everything and I would definitely recommend you guys.

Dr. Hiura was very knowledgeable and professional. He was nice and polite throughout the appointment but he was very quiet and introverted. He only talked when giving me instructions before each test. I actually prefer a doctor who is comfortable performing the exam without feeling like they have to entertain me but others might prefer someone more personable and outgoing. Overall I had a great experience and he was an excellent doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Hiura.

Christopher was great! My exam was very thorough and quick, and his office and front retail area for glasses were very nice and clean.
He also provides the option to do your check in paperwork online before the appt.
He carries a large selection frames that are reasonably priced, as well as sunglasses both prescription and regular. I'm going to come back to buy my frames and prescription. I highly recommend Christopher.
