Dr. Cynthia Arata completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Southern California. She graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree. Her extensive training in optometric care includes professional internships at the VA Medical Center in West Los Angeles, the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, and the Medical Clinic at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside. She has worked with the Boys and Girls Club in Garden Grove providing eye care for children, and at the Foothill Center for the Visually Impaired and Partially Sighted in Glendora. She's worked closely with ophthalmologists at the East Valley Eye Care Center to provide specialty contact lenses for patients with keratoconus, high prescriptions, and post-surgical corneas. She has also provided comprehensive eye exams at the California State University, Fullerton to college students and was involved in many vision screenings at local elementary schools.
Dr. Arata is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, the Los Angeles Optometric Association, and the College of Optometrists in Visual Development. She is fully licensed by the California State Board of Optometry and is certified in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic agents to detect, treat and manage many conditions such as ocular infections, allergies, glaucoma, ocular inflammation, and dry eyes.
Dr. Arata has written articles for the "Contact Lens Spectrum" covering topics from bifocal contact lenses to disinfecting solutions. In addition to prescribing glasses and contact lenses, she takes a special interest in caring for children with visually-related learning disabilities.
