“Dr. Goodman saw me during a medication transition, where I was coming off of a SSRI to another as I was no longer responding to it. I was also on a benzodiazepine and I was exhausted all the tome. I was at a low point for over 2 years, gained 15 pounds - my anxiety was getting out of hand. Dr. Goodman took the time to speak with me from a psychopharmacological perspective, assessed my current medications, and offered alternatives that could help in conjunction with cognitive therapy I was receiving. I am now in an incredible spot in my life. I have the energy back, my anxiety is at an all time low, and I’ve lost the weight. Bottom line: if you want to make a change in your life, and work with a professional who will listen, be patient with you, and give you the tools to get your life back on track, I highly recommend you make an appointment. You must put in the work, feel uncomfortable, and challenge yourself. If you do, Dr. Goodman will get you back on track. ”

Getting to know Dr. Daniel Goodman

Dan graduated from Yale College, summa cum laude, after which he attended the University of Cambridge as a Churchill Scholar. He then received his MD from Harvard Medical School and completed residency training in psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he continues to serve on the faculty and, for many years, has been a highly-rated teacher. After developing an interest in entrepreneurship, Dan later earned an MBA from Columbia Business School. In his more than two decades of practice as a psychiatrist, Dan has seen how treatment is most effective when it builds upon a strong therapeutic relationship. He believes deeply in the importance of working collaboratively with his clients in a warm, down-to-earth, and practical manner. He draws inspiration from many different perspectives. He has extensive training in a range of psychotherapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Supportive Psychotherapy, and particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dan is also an expert psychopharmacologist. Dan’s interest in translating science into better treatments also motivated him to found three biotechnology companies which, collectively, raised more than $80M in private capital. Given his entrepreneurial experiences, at times some of Dan’s clients enjoy working with him in a manner that is more akin to executive coaching than to traditional psychotherapy. He deeply appreciates the opportunity to work flexibly and in a highly customized manner with his clients in the service of whatever is most meaningful to them.

Dr. Goodman has a very calm demeanor, plenty of empathy and a warm way of communicating, with a keen eye for the least little detail. He is conservative in treatment plans but always willing to adjust medications as needed. In addition, he embraces holistic practices, from meditation to brain exercises. I've been seeing him for years and trust him absolutely. He takes lots of notes and you always know that you're not just another person taking up a designated slot in his schedule. He really cares! He listens carefully, asks intelligent questions, and I've found him to be spot on with every suggestion. Having seen several other professionals, I can confidently state that Dr. Goodman is the one to choose above the rest. Without dictating, he always works WITH the patient, so you can feel sure you're participating fully in your own treatment as a partner.
The office atmosphere is very pleasant and starts the visit on the right foot. Dr.Goodman is very professional and personable. I have confidence in his knowledge and can attest to his effectiveness in helping with anxiety and medication. The best professional I have seen so far and the only one to make a difference. He adds mindfulness and meditation which enhances the session and adds to the success of the treatment. He is respectful and will help you on the right path to find joy and peace.
Dr. Goodman was attentive and empathic which helped me at a difficult time. I felt I was in great hands, and was better able to make decisions.
