About Dr. Darren Friedman
Dr. Darren J. Friedman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, completed his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Saint Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, and pursued advanced training through fellowships at Harvard University's Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, as well as an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Additionally, he holds Board Certified Subspecialty Certification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Friedman has expertise in surgery of the shoulder, knee, elbow, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal trauma. He is an attending surgeon at New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital. His goal is to provide comprehensive patient care in a kind, thoughtful manner with a focus on the individual.
He specializes in treating complex problems of the shoulder and upper limb, incorporating the latest technology and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Friedman has extensive experience in arthroscopic knee surgery, including meniscal repair and ligament reconstruction; arthroscopic rotator cuff repair; shoulder stabilization; nerve decompression; sports medicine; joint preservation; tendon transfers; shoulder replacement; and reverse shoulder replacement. His training in musculoskeletal trauma allows him to approach fracture care comprehensively, exploring the relationship between patient nutritional status, bone quality, and the biology of fracture healing.
