About Darren West
Darren West is a nationally board-certified physician assistant with over 18 years of experience in clinical dermatology. Darren’s training began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry at Brigham Young University (Hawaii in Laie, Hawaii) in 1994. He went on to receive his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1998. Darren is also an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) and the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants (ASAPA).
Throughout his career, Darren has been a speaker and presenter in academic conferences and local meetings. Darren’s current academic interests encompass patient and student education, as well as research. In fact, he has been a dermatology clinical preceptor for students at Northern Arizona University’s physician assistant program. He is an advisor for the Dermatology Education Foundation (DEF) a nonprofit educational program and conference designed to help educate PAs and NPs. Prior to joining Spectrum Dermatology, Darren worked in Arizona at Phoenix Dermatology in Desert Ridge from 2006 until 2018 where he helped build and grow a new practice up from the ground floor.
Darren brings extensive experience in adult dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and dermatologic surgery. In addition to his expertise with treating diseases such as skin cancer, psoriasis, eczema, and acne; Darren is also comfortable with all aspects of aesthetic dermatology and skin care.
Darren, along with his wife and kids, resides in Scottsdale. He enjoys spending time with his kids and is an avid hiker and golfer.

Great experience with PA-C Darren West. Office visit was quick and easy and got the treatment that I needed. PA-C West was awesome as always and I am so appreciative of his expertise, knowledge, and professionalism. Pinnacle Dermatology is a great practice, from the front office to the medical assistants, to the practitioners. I would highly recommend to anyone!

I have had such a great experience with Pinnacle Dermatology, specifically the Ironwood office. I have had such pleasant and productive experiences each time I have gone and it has only gotten better. The front office and medical staff are friendly and helpful. They are very efficient and make sure the appointments run smoothly and quickly. More specifically, I could not say more good things about PA-C Darren West. PA-C West is personable, professional, and compassionate. He listens to all concerns and provides excellent recommendation for best next steps. I didn’t feel like the exam was as thorough as it should have been. A prescription was to be sent to my pharmacy that day but it never got sent. After i called to remind them to send it, they sent it to the wrong pharmacy.
I feel like i need to start over at a completely different dermatologist.
The staff was very friendly though.

I've heard that some derm offices try to push hard sales to products that they carry, and that totally did NOT happen here, so that was nice.
I left with some prescriptions and some general advice, but they didn't do any close examination or testing to see what was going on with my skin. Perhaps they knew they didn't need to, but it would have been good to know one way or the other. If/when I need more dermological needs, I would go back and see the same people again.

Highly recommend Darren West and the wonderful staff at Pinnacle Dermatology. Professional and beautiful office space with friendly staff. I was in and out in less than an hour. I was worried I may need surgery, but instead of immediately jumping to that, Darren suggested medication first. I will be going back for all my dermatological needs.

Dr. West, is phenomenal. He knows his stuff.. I liked him from the moment he came into the room. You know he's very concerned and cares.. I walked away with answers and never was I rushed. I'm so glad I called and made this appointment.. when I first walked in to their office,, everyone said hello and with smiles. This office as a whole makes you feel so comfortable.. I dread Dr offices, dread.. when I walked in, I forgot I don't like these places.. imagine that.. Thank you for kindness and care I received.. Top Shelf..
