After graduating New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. David Abayev completed his comprehensive training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, an Academic Affiliate of Weill College of Cornell University.
Dr. David Abayev is an active member of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In addition to his thriving clinical practice, Dr. Abayev also conducts research studies in the field of Gynecology. He has been published in the American Journal of Reproductive Medicine and has presented to the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists.
Dr. Abayev has admitting privileges as an attending Gynecologist at NYU Langone Medical Center and NYHQ/New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Medical College of Cornell University Queens where he is also a Clinical Instructor teaching new residents and young physicians. He also has admitting privileges at the New Parkway Hospital.
Dr. Abayev is an expert in Gynecology and Gynecological Surgery, ranging from minimally invasive laparoscopic and laser procedures to major open abdominal surgeries. Where to begin. The doctor belittled me, told me I was wrong about my own medical history without having seen my records, told me I chose the wrong birth control, and essentially told me I was making things up about my medical history. I've had some really traumatic past experiences with gynecologists. It is difficult for me to trust new doctors as a result. He was brusque, rude, and gave advice I didn't ask for, and made inappropriate jokes about my weight and my never having been pregnant. And this was before he even examined me in a dingy, unsanitary, tiny office. Halfway through the appointment I wanted to cry. Disposable speculums were kept in an open bag on a counter covered in random medical equipment. Posters on the wall were all for men's health. There was mold on the floor. The doctor didn't acknowledge my discomfort during the check-up and dismissed it until his female assistant commented on it. The assistant performed a sonogram in a different tiny office in silence. He never performed a test I specifically asked for, and at the end of the appointment he couldn't even remember my age and gave me results in an abrupt manner. I left the office feeling miserable, berated, and completely shocked by what had just unfolded. I would never in a million years return to this office. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. No one should leave their gynecologist and immediately start sobbing on the street because of how awful the doctor was. He needs to adjust his bedside manner, acknowledge his patients' humanity, and refrain from invalidating and belittling his patients' experiences.

I think the MD needs to think before he speaks. Period. Dry personality. Offensive. I seemed to know more about my medical condition that he did. Not the best in my opinion. Front desk staff is very dry and not very welcoming. The doctor's assistant is also very dry. Not the most upbeat environment. Definitely seeking a new doctor..

I shouldn't really comment on the wait time as I was late myself due to work. The secretary assured me that I could still be seen even tho it was already 6 pm! He saw me within 30 min despite my tardiness.
Dr. Abayev has nice bedside manner, he is attentive and listens to you in his office before taking you into the exam room. His speculum exam is super quick and painless. He even has onsite ultrasound if you require it! I feel comfortable with his knowledge base and medical advice.

Dr. Abayev was really lovely. I was nervous about seeing a male OBGYN, but I felt very comfortable with Dr. Abayev. He answered all of my questions, and gave me ample time to discuss my concerns. My actual exam was quick and comfortable.
My only issue was that I was given two ultrasounds, which I have never had happen at the OBGYN before; when I expressed my confusion the woman performing the ultrasound brushed off my concern and expressed that it was strange that I had never had one before. The woman who did the ultrasounds was not what I would call warm, and the process took a little longer than I would've liked (especially since I didn't know it was going to happen in the first place). At the end of the day I guess it's better to be thorough, but it was a bit of a surprise.

LOVE HIM! Takes his time with his patients. I hate that I didn't find him sooner. I do wish they didn't leave urine samples in the public bathroom for so long, it made me feel uncomfortable seeing 3 samples from different women just sitting by the sink for like 30 mins with men and women visiting the bathroom in the waiting room. I mention this to the receptionist. Other than that, I love the doctor.

Dr. Abayev was very straight-forward, no nonsense. I would have preferred attention to my medical history, which he did not ask. Nor were my vitals taken. And the wait was terrible. But having imaging tests done within the office was time-saving and stress-reducing. It helped me get treated right away.
If you're looking for a no-frills experience, Dr. Abayev is a wise choice.

The visit actually wasn't bad, but the follow up has been terrible. I needed to get a copy of the receipt, it's been impossible to get them to send it to me. They have their own database where you can see your exam results, but they don't upload any results. I had problems after the appointment and when the doctor called me he didn't know who I was, why I had seen him, when I started the pill and gave me no useful feedback regarding anything.
I'm making an appointment with someone else. Definitely not going back.

The doctor was very good on paper; friendly at first, friendly staff, wait time went by a breeze. But what bothered me the most, is his dismissive demeanor in answering questions. Two things came up in the sonogram, which I had to bring up to him and basically drill him on an explanation. It was like pulling teeth. Not cool at all. Drs are supposed to have patience to their patient's questions; not brush them off as soon as theyre out of the examining room. Very disappointing to say the least.

This was pretty much the best Gyno appointment I have ever had. The doctor is very knowledgable and personable. The papsmear was surprising quick and painless in comparison to my past doctors. I waited a total of 0 minutes to be seen and was finished quickly as well. Another bonus is that he has evening appointments, Perfect for those that work from 9-6 like myself
