About Dr. Irene Kakossian
Board-certified in obstetrics & gynecology, Dr. Kakossian graduated from medical school with honors and distinction in 1991. She completed an exchange fellowship program at Columbia University, NY in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and graduated as chief resident in obstetrics & gynecology at NYU Langone in 2000.
Dr. Kakossian has done extensive research in Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic Surgery for different gynecologic conditions and produced many publications in the field. She was trained by and operated with professor and founder of laparoscopic surgery Dr. H. Reich at Columbia University, NY. She lectured at International Conferences of Gynecologic Surgeons in Las Vegas, Miami, Montreal, and Atlanta and demonstrated the latest advances in laparoscopic surgery in Moscow, Russia.
Today, Dr. Kakossian specializes in infertility, menopause, gynecological pathology, and laparoscopic/hysteroscopic surgery. Women’s Health has always been of primary interest to Dr. Kakossian. She created a rewarding private practice where she enjoys a special bond with her patients while caring for them through pivotal moments in their lives. This brought another natural and yet important aspect of any woman’s life; grace and beauty. Having been specially trained in many cosmetic procedures (Botox, Fillers, Laser, and IPL), Dr. Kakossian now addresses patient needs for both Health and Beauty in the comfort of a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest advances in medical technology.

The doctor and PA that I saw were lovely, but a medical office runs based on its organization. It’s been almost 2 weeks and I still don’t have test results. When I called, they said that my labs were never processed. According to the Manhattan office, it takes a week (or maybe more if I didn’t call) for their Brooklyn office to put the results in their portal to see it. They are now requesting I come in to get another sample, which will delay my results even further.
If you need a quick turnaround, or have a time sensitive issue. This is not your place. In fact, consider the procedure explains by staff negligent in my opinion. I don’t often to leave reviews, but I felt it important to share this.

I had two appointments at this clinic, and both experiences were not good. During my first visit, despite arriving on time, I waited for an hour before finally being seen by the doctor, who rushed through my appointment in just five minutes. Unfortunately, my second visit was no better; after a 20-minute wait, I again felt rushed through my appointment. Despite expressing concerns about breast pain, the doctor provided little attention to my issue and hastily prescribed medication that exacerbated my symptoms without addressing the underlying problem. I left feeling frustrated and unheard.

Due to my medical history, the doctor recommended that I see a NYU doctor. I got the impression that she didn't want me to be a patient there. I have had difficulty finding a NYU GYN that is accepting new patients and my insurance for the last few years. Currently in good health.

My appointment was at 1:15 PM and I did not see the doctor until 2 PM. I arrived at 12:45 to ensure there was adequate time to fill forms etc. The reception staff was curt, to say the least. It was frustrating arrive early as a courtesy, and then wait for an hour for a visit that took 5 minutes. The doctor seemed nice but the appointment felt rushed and a bit cursory. They also encourage cash payments, which is a bit strange. They of course expect you to fill an insane amount of forms, including providing credit card information to deduct no-shows and cancellations.

As a new patient, it was a great experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Once the forms were completed, I was seen immediately by the medical assistant followed by Dr. Kakossian. I had several questions which Dr. Kakossian answered and alleviated my concerns. She was gentle with the exam, overall a great experience.
