When people feel stuck in an emotional or behavioral rut and find their usual coping skills are no longer enough, this is the moment when they seek help. My goal is to help individuals and couples who want to get unstuck.
I am a board-certified, Harvard-trained psychiatrist with over 15 years experience specializing in psychotherapy for individuals and couples. In my view, the therapeutic relationship is the main vehicle for psychological healing and change. I pay close attention to creating a safe and effective relationship with each and every patient.
Using traditional psychotherapeutic approaches (psychodynamic (i.e. contemporary psychoanalytic), cognitive-behavioral, and relaxation training), as well as mind/body techniques, I aim to help people access and mobilize their own inner resources. Healing expresses itself in a greater sense of freedom, self-confidence, and connection to oneself, to others, and the world around. I consider medications to be useful tools in facilitating the healing process.
