I practice psychopharmacology, also called psychiatric medicine. Nurse Practitioner Sylvia Pawlik practices with me. We see adolescents, young adults, those in middle age, and seniors.
The field of psychopharmacology is expanding. New medications and ongoing research help us optimize treatment for each individual.
Most of those we help have common psychiatric complaints such as depression or other mood instability including mood swings. Other complaints we commonly treat are intermittent or constant anxiety and problems with focus, concentration, and productivity. We help individuals who have suffered a sudden loss or trauma, as well as those who have a chronic history of failed relationships.
Medication can bring tremendous improvement. Many find that the right medication promotes success at home, work, and play. Medication may also enable a smoother process and a better outcome from psychotherapy. We work collaboratively with psychotherapists who have a broad range of specialties and skill sets. We can also recommend therapists based on individual personality and need
