About Dr. David Tuckman
Dr. David Tuckman is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity (shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand) as well as in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy. Dr. Tuckman has special interests in sports-related injuries as well as traumatic injuries of the upper extremity, including fractures of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. In addition, he specializes in tendon ruptures/lacerations, nerve laceration, post-traumatic reconstruction, rotator cuff injuries and arthroscopic repair, shoulder dislocations/labral tears, and arthritis and nerve-related conditions of the hand and upper extremity.
Dr. Tuckman received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1998. He completed an internship in general surgery in 1999, and a four-year residency in orthopaedic surgery in 2003, both at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Tuckman was then dual fellowship-trained at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. One fellowship was in Sports Medicine/Arthroscopy and one was in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity. Dr. Tuckman began working in private practice in 2005, and he joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 2007.
Dr. Tuckman has lectured nationally and internationally and has published extensively on a broad range of topics related to sports medicine, hand, elbow, and shoulder surgery, including wrist fractures, arthritic conditions of the hands and upper extremity fractures. Dr. Tuckman is also involved in the design of new, cutting-edge orthopaedic surgical implants. He is dedicated to teaching, is integrally involved in training residents in the North Shore University Hospital-Long Island Jewish Medical Center Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is an assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. In addition, he is a lifetime member of International Bone Research Association (IBRA).

My wife used Dr. Tuckman for both wrist surgeries, so when I needed a hand surgeon, it made sense to see him. He examined my injuries, had x-rays taken, reviewed them and explained what needed to be done next. He also ordered surgery for the next day to fix the hand.

The appointment is for my toddler who injured his wrist. I actually booked with another doctor in the same office but it turns out that the other doctor does not specialize in wrist and Dr. Tuckman does. ZocDoc doesn’t tell you that info. I’m happy that I called the office to make sure and they were able to change the doctor for me. Dr. Tuckman was excellent. 100 percent recommend.

The office waiting area was gilled with 40 or 50 people but the staff does a good job of moving things along. Doctor Tuchman is a great doctor who figures things out without unnecessary testing and quickly diagnosed and treated my condition.
