“GREAT! I’ve been struggling to find a psych that actually listens to me and cares and educated me. Doesn’t just throw these pills and then try these, etc. I’m a person. Not a mental experiment.”

Getting to know Debbie Stevens

I knew from the first day of my psychiatric clinical rotation that I wanted to commit my career to helping people with their mental health problems. I found true joy in sitting with individuals experiencing a crisis and supporting others battling a myriad of issues. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. I then completed a Master of Science in Nursing in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After nearly a decade of clinical practice, I returned to Emory to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing. Over the past 22 years, I have provided medication management, psychiatric assessments, and overseen complex medication regimens for thousands of patients with mental illness and substance use disorders. During this time, I have also held multiple supervisory and adjunct faculty roles, including serving as a clinical assistant professor in the nursing schools at Emory University and Florida International University.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

She was a great listener and responded well to my needs, and didn’t make me feel weird about things I was worried about

Dr. Stevens has incredible bedside manner, but seemingly completely ignored my concerns about having just moved across the country and being suddenly unmedicated while i am actively experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of BPD. Dr. Stevens chose to prescribe me a new medication to help me sleep rather than continuing the medications i was previously on. On top of her refusal to manage my medications, which was the only reason i scheduled an appointment with her, she was more concerned with forcing an IOP on me. If you are self aware and this isn’t your first time seeking or continuing medication management do not book with this woman. It is a complete waste of your time, energy, and copay money. Needless to say, I found a provider who wanted to actually do their job and would not recommend Dr. Stevens to even my worst enemy.

I told her that I had a bad experience on antidepressants. She prescribed me a dosage that was absolutely way too much for my body and I did not feel listened to at all. I just felt like she wanted me to come back to stay as a patient for money. I was not happy about her response to me telling her I had yet another bad experience. She told me to just “take half” and meet with her another day . Not the correct response in my opinion

I met with Dr. Stevens recently. I logged on to our call maybe 3 minutes early. I was immediately was welcomed by her presence. She was a great listener and her calm demeanor made it very easy to talk. We had not even ended our appointment, and she was already equipping me with tools to navigate everything I have going on.

Poor bedside manner. came across as just doing a job that she hated. Didn't really care about the things I shared. Immediately pegged me as some druggie looking for a fix when I asked her if she could up my anxiety medication.

Having trouble signing in. She has been very patient. I've really only had 2 Visits. She is a great listener, compassionate, and really concerned with my issues. Love her she's great.

I would consider my an introvert but she was able to graciously break my shell. Before I knew it, I was spilling my whole life story which never happens. She's GREAT!!!
Verified patient
That was the best encounter with a healthcare provider that I have ever had. She was thoughtful, communicated great, and she listened. Well, even though I feel like I was out of the place I highly recommend her to anyone looking for help managing their mental health. ?
