Getting to know Denise Huebler

Hi, my name is Denise, and I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner based in New Jersey. I specialize in treating anxiety, bipolar disorder, anger management, burnout, binge eating disorder, chronic illness, college and graduate student mental health, depression, family dynamics, insomnia and sleep issues, LGBTQIA+ and gender and sexuality topics, loss, grief, and bereavement, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and stress management. With over 7 years of nursing experience and advanced psychiatric training from Fairleigh Dickinson University, I am committed to providing compassionate, individualized care. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected, and cared for.

What should a new client know about working with you?

PLEASE NOTE, I’M IN-NETWORK WITH AETNA, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD HORIZON NJ, CIGNA, OSCAR, OXFORD, QUEST BEHAVIORAL, UNITED HEALTHCARE. I DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICARE OR MEDICAID. My style is warm, engaging, and personable. I value forming a strong alliance with each client, and collaborating on all treatment decision-making. I work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and many different walks of life, including students, parents, professionals, trades, service industry, retail, entrepreneurs, creatives and tech experts. Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Booking Process: Book your appointment on Zocdoc. My office will email you a self-assessment to ensure I’m able to help you. We'll then reach out to confirm your appointment time. Your First Visit: The initial session is a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation which allows me to understand your current symptoms and difficulties, and learn about important aspects of your past psychiatric, medical, social, educational, and family histories. At the end of the session, we’ll determine the best treatment course. Session frequency ranges from weekly to monthly depending on the type of treatment you’re looking for. If you’re already seeing a therapist, I’m happy to collaborate with them while guiding the medication aspect of your treatment. However, many of my clients see me for both therapy and medication management. My practice, Lavender Psychiatry, is founded and fueled by board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who create therapeutic journeys that are kind, convenient and transparent so that people can flourish. We have a fantastic team that works together to ensure our clients are well taken care of. This includes our care concierge team who is available 7 days a week between your appointments, to help answer questions and assist with any issues regarding coverage and prescriptions etc. We also have covering providers in case I’m away and an urgent matter arises. I look forward to meeting you and helping you in your journey to a brighter future!

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

I scheduled a video appointment on Thursday Nov 7th for Monday Nov 11th @ 1:00pm. The appointment stated that the doctor would be in touch with instructions for the video call. My appointment came and went and never received said instructions. I called the office number that was provided, and they were closed for the holiday. No one ever reached out to me to say there was a scheduling conflict. I hope I’m not charged for something that was not my fault. Very disappointed and will not go back.
