Dr. Derek Hsu (pronounced “Shoe”) is a dermatologist who believes in a patient-centered and evidence-based approach to patient care. Dr. Hsu has clinical interests in all aspects of the field, including medical dermatology as well as surgery and cosmetics.
After attending medical school at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Hsu completed residency in dermatology at Northwestern University’s McGaw Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Hsu has authored over 40 papers in dermatology and has served as lead author in numerous studies that have been published in the leading dermatology journals. He has also given talks at national conferences, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, and the Society of Investigative Dermatology.
Dr. Hsu is a native Californian and in his free time, enjoys tennis, golf, trying new restaurants, and traveling.

Dr. Hsu is an amazing doctor. He really listened to me and he asked me questions about anything else that might be troubling me . He wanted to know if I have any questions about anything at all. I really liked that. Sam was also amazing. I feel much better about my issues.

My situation was very obscure and Dr. Hsu made sure that I was in great hands. Staff was very helpful and kind even though I was late for appointment. The nurse who helped me was very knowledgeable about my condition as her own parents had the same. Dr. Hsu diagnosed and looked at my condition very thoroughly and wanted to double check everything before prescribing me any medicine. Overall better than anything Amazon ever brought me :)

I came in for rashes caused by severe allergy reactions. The doctor suggest keep using the medication I bought over the counter but it doesn't seem to improve at all. It got even itchier. The next day I went to urgent care and the doctor there prescribed me 7-day steroid tablets, it then finally ease the symptom a little bit.

this doctor did not even talk to me for five minutes before suggesting a biopsy. he failed to listen, had zero follow up questions, and showed no curiosity to try to understand my situation.
i would actually like a refund. this was unacceptable. trust me, don't see this doctor.

They texted & emailed me to fill out their office’s online portal to create an account. They even gave me a phone call to remind me. I really wish ZocDoc could load my data into the office’s portal for me. When I arrived the office was kind enough to remind me fill out the online form (I guess when I submitted it before it didn’t load or save.) I would come here again. :)

Dr. Hsu was great. The office accommodated my appointment even though it hadn't shown in the system. I had an issue that needed pretty immediate attention and they took care of it right away.
Dr. Hsu is super friendly and is happy to answer all questions. He offered a couple of treatment options and explained both clearly. He also explained follow up treatment options that he would be able to do.
He then treated my issue with the help of super professional and lovely nurse (sorry can't remember her name). Both were professional, kind and talked through what they were doing.
All in all a great experience from check-in to leaving.
