About Dr. Derek Ju
Dr. Derek Ju is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery. He specializes in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders such as stenosis, disc herniations, spondylolisthesis, spinal deformity, spinal trauma, and tumors. Dr. Ju is experienced with minimally invasive surgery, robotic spine surgery, and motion preservation (non-fusion surgery). He customizes each treatment plan to each patient’s needs, with a focus on non-operative management when possible.
Dr. Ju graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, School of Engineering Cambridge, MA with a with a bachelor’s degree in biological engineering and a minor in biology. He received a medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Baltimore, MD. Dr. Ju completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Department of Orthopaedics, Los Angeles, CA. He went on to complete fellowship training in spine surgery at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute/Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA. He is Board eligible with the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Ju has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters. He maintains an active research interest in degenerative diseases of the spine, including studying new regenerative techniques. He has received research grants and awards from organizations including the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF), Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), and Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS). Dr. Ju is a member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, the North American Spine Society and a reviewer for the Global Spine Journal.

I had a check in the automatic check in box cause I was the first time patient. They called my name before I was even finished. They were very friendly. They took a picture of my insurance card and my license told me what side of the room to go on, sat down For 30 seconds and they called me in everything was immediate. I sat down again inside the waiting room to wait for the Dr less than a minute and he apologized for keeping me waiting. Best experience ever. I was finished within 15 minutes.

Dr Ju listened to my complaints and we spoke of a game plan to find solutions. So far so good.
It’s too soon to project if my complaints can be repaired But I am hopeful Dr Ju will do everything he can. He will now be my main Orthopedic Doctor.

over exaggerated positive reviews just an average doctor visit, regular in and out visit did not do anything for immediate treatment. Didn't address concerns completely. Still in doubt about my own scenario.

Dr. Ju’s office was pretty far from me, but it was so worth it. He is kind, professional and knowledgeable…. The best thing was that I was able to get an appointment the same day. Beautiful. His assistant and front desk was just as kind and knowledgeable as he was in their area of work
