Getting to know Derick Moody
I’m a certified physician assistant specializing in psychiatry with over eight years of experience working with psychiatric medications and evidence-based treatments. Throughout my career, I’ve helped individuals navigate a wide range of mental health conditions, including PTSD, OCD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders.
Over the years, I’ve also developed extensive experience in psychedelic-based therapies, making this a key part of my practice and one of my areas of greatest expertise. I believe healing is most effective when approached holistically — by caring for both the mind and body through attention to exercise, nutrition, mindfulness, and meaningful social connection, alongside thoughtful medication management.
Outside of work, I enjoy philosophy, spending time in nature, and finding humor and joy in the everyday moments that make life meaningful.
Please note: I am accepting new patients for ongoing medication management support. I do not provide therapy.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My goal is to provide individualized, compassionate care that empowers you to understand and take an active role in your mental health journey. I always take time to listen carefully, explain treatment options clearly, and answer any questions you may have.
I believe that education is an essential part of care — when you fully understand your treatment and feel supported in making decisions, you can approach recovery with more confidence and clarity. Whether we’re addressing symptoms, exploring lifestyle changes, or integrating new therapeutic approaches, I strive to create a safe, collaborative space where you feel respected, heard, and genuinely cared for.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I start with a thorough evaluation to understand your history, current challenges, and priorities. Together, we create a personalized plan that may include medication management, therapy referrals, or lifestyle strategies to strengthen overall wellness.

After scheduling your appointment, you will receive an email from Stella Mental Health (formerly Numinus) containing your intake paperwork. Please allow about 30 minutes to complete this form. Your responses will help your provider prepare for your upcoming appointment. All patients are required to complete the intake form 24 business hours before their appointment.
You will receive a phone call from one of our dedicated Care Advocates, who can answer any questions you may have. Please be prepared to provide a credit card to keep on file for co-pays or cancellation fees. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full intake appointment fee ($292).
During your intake appointment, you’ll spend 60 minutes with your provider collaborating on a treatment plan tailored to your needs. If in-person treatments are recommended—such as TMS, Spravato, DSR SGB, or ketamine therapy—our care team will guide you through the process and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
