I went to Dr. Malkin for anxiety issues, and after asking me a few questions, he administered an ADHD survey, and suggested a few books to read about ADHD, its effect on relationships, work, etc. After reading the books and answering the survey, I went back to get diagnosed with ADHD. I have been prescribed medication, and have been on the pills for a year now. I feel much better and most aspects of my life have improved tremendously, e.g. fitness, relationship, and attitude at work. Dr. Malkin is a specialist in this area, and I would recommend him strongly.

He asks detailed and thorough questions that I wasn't expecting. Dr. Malkin provided me with reading material to better understand myself as well as recommended a therapist. I appreciate that he has a very calm and comfortable bedside manner and was very patient with me. He's also careful with diagnosing me according to my history which I appreciate. Booked my next appointment with him!

He comes across as very cold and disinterested. It makes it very difficult to trust him and open up to him.

During my first appointment, I felt like he made conclusions before hearing what I had to say, then didn't want to accept that I disagreed. During my second appointment, he was condescending and overall unpleasant.

Dr. Malkin is incredible. More than a great treatment plan, he made growing my own understanding and knowledge a central part of our appointments. I highly recommend him for his empathy and personalized approach.

I was pleasantly surprised by Dr. Malkin. He had received great reviews already so I made an appointment even though the soonest one was very far away. He was very nice and friendly and got right into it asking me lots of questions to help get to know my reason for visiting. I was amazed by his quick recognition of my issues and he provided me with a list of extra reading on the topics so I could fully understand my diagnosis. I am very excited to be on a new path with Dr Malkin.

Dr. Malkin was very professional and direct. He did a thorough evaluation and didn't make me feel rushed. He always seemed to understand what I was saying even when I couldn't articulate super well. He was able to take both my symptoms and some habits I've considered normal and discuss the possibility of a dx that I never thought of but truly fits my situation. I look forward to working with him.

My first visit with Dr. Malkin is fantastic. I just moved to NY and needed to get a new psychiatrist so that I could get refills on my prescriptions that could not be refilled across state lines. Dr. Malkin patiently listened to my history and assessed my needs. He also provided recommendations for medical professionals I will need to establish relationships with in NY. I highly recommend him.

This doctor has 0 regard for the patient or their time ; also charges a “credit card fee” for using a flex card.Prescribes pills like candy , even when repeatedly being told that the patient is not interested . Stay away , unless you want to waste your time and milk your insurance .

Dr. Malkin was very understanding when I was 10 minutes late being stuck on the highway. He was very quick with getting all the admin checks out of the way to focus straight to the more important things. Looking forward to figure out ways to make my life better!

I had my general consultation with Dr. Malkin and I left feeling such a sense of relief and hope. He was unbelievably thorough, respectfully honest and incredibly patient. He walked me through the aspects of my possible condition and made sure to check that I understood before moving on. He really gives off the impression that he is there to support you and provide treatment. His office is beautiful, comfortable and the waiting room is discreet. Looking forward to working with him.

Dr. Malkin was my second psychiatrist that I tried out and the difference was night and day. I was looking for someone to do a bit of analysis to help me resolve things closer to the roots of the issues and he really went above and beyond to meet that standard. He was engaged and attentive and his process is streamlined. He gave me reading material after the session and explained some of the science behind my symptoms. I am truly better off for having shopped around for the right doctor and the right fit I think he is a highly intelligent person and his practice is second nature for him.

I have seen many psychiatrists throughout the years. Dr Malkin is the first to ever speak with me in length to get a thorough understanding of my concerns and what treatment may be helpful.

Dr. Malkin listened to my problems very well. He did not interrupt me, let me and my wife speak out and shared his professional opinion. He gave a few useful and relevant recommendations, prescribed individual medication and provided a list of books to read. I think he was able to provide a very specific insight to my problems and seemed to be knowledgeable about different psychiatric techniques. i recommend Dr. Malkin for future visits.

Over the past decade I've met with a few Psychiatrists here in NYC with mixed results. However, this is the first time I've left an appointment immediately understanding more about my own mind and recent struggles with day to day functioning.
My experience was an objective/clinical examination and nothing short of enlightening.

I found Dr. Malkin to be a very good listener, but at the same time, able to cut through to the heart of most problems. Rarely did I need to express myself more than a single time for him to " get it". He's also pretty hip, technologically, a plus for me. He answers e-mails promptly and sends Rx's to your local pharmacy directly (standard, but it needs to be said nonetheless).

Over the last 20+ years, I've seen many doctors and therapists who erroneously diagnosed me with anxiety and/or depression. Dr. Malkin is the first doctor to finally diagnose my ADD. My life has improved dramatically and I owe it all to Dr. Malkin's education and treatment of my life long struggle with ADD. Highly Recommend!!

He listens very well, is concise and direct and focused on practical solutions, and keeps you on topic while giving leeway when certain things are hard to explain. Treatment is early so TBD, but he knows the science really well and seems insightful and experienced about the pros/cons of different treatment approaches and how to figure out the right approach for your situation.
February 28, 2017Initials hidden
Dr. Malkin was helpful, but after several visits and trying to adjust my medication to make it work for me, I didn't always feel like he was taking my thoughts/feelings into consideration, and I sometimes felt pressured to take his advice even after voicing my concerns. Ultimately, this led me to decide to find a different doctor. Additionally, while he does seem very knowledgable, there's something about his personality that's sort of cold and aloof, which wasn't very comforting to me when discussing my mental health issues.
