Dr. Semler was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and relocated to Houston, Texas with his family in 1955. He graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. in Physiological Optics and attended the University of Houston College of Optometry.
He earned his Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) in 1974. He had a military career spanning 21 years with many diverse assignments. He earned many awards and commendations during this time. Dr. Semler brings over 37 years of clinical optometric expertise to the San Antonio Eye Center, P.A. He joined the practice in October 2011. His areas of interest include contact lenses and pediatric optometry.
Dr. Semler and his wife, Betty, have four children and three grandchildren. He enjoys swimming, cycling, tennis, golf, hiking, hunting and fishing.

Yes I would go back. I would like to point out that I got there about fifteen minutes earlier than my appointment time and was call after one hour and 10 minutes after. Not something that appealed to me.

Good staff but I wish they wouldn’t overbook. My appointment was at 2:30 and I was there until 4:30. The benches used for sitting are not meant for sitting that long.

I was in a little bit early and I was told that I was there earlier than the time assigned,But the clerk seemed to be moody .The reason I was early is because we were having trouble Finding parking and when we finally found parking , It was far for me to walk and I was given instructions to be in 15 minutes before my appoint.I was left as the last patient to be seen. What do I do if I get a last minute ride will I be told to come back another day? Well that clerk has no idea on how hard it is for patients to walk and to get to be there as soon as she snaps her fingers? Not satisfied for that kind of treatment.

Professional staff. Dr. Semler was clear spoken and efficient. One of the staff mentioned that he was overbooked - possibly because I booked online and got an appointment for early the next day and was added to patients who booked by phone.

The doctor was extremely friendly and listen to my problems. The office staff was very nice also. The problem I had was the wait my appointment was at 1:30 in the afternoon and I was not seen until about 3:45. I just find that that's unacceptable for an eye appointment

The doctor and his assistant did NOT wear masks during the COVID outrage. I reminded the assistant to wear her mask, and she replied "I don't have one". This is the most awful experience I have had so far with any medical professionals.
