I am a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist with expertise in endoscopy. My practice focuses on diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (i.e., upper endoscopy and colonoscopy) and advanced procedures (ERCP, EUS, ESD, stent placement).
I graduated from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) Faculdade de Medicina. I completed my Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Miami. Additionally, I earned a Master's in Clinical Epidemiology from McGill University. After my training, I served as an Instructor in Medicine at Stanford University and spent three additional years learning advanced endoscopic techniques such as ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). I also trained at the National Cancer Center Hospital (NCCH) in Tokyo and Zhongshan Hospital in Shanghai, where I learned Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) and Per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM). I feel very fortunate to have been in the endoscopy room learning from world authorities in the field like David Carr-Locke, Alan Barkun, Yutaka Saito, and Seiichiro Abe.
I have been practicing clinical gastroenterology and performing endoscopy for more than 20 years and estimate I have done more than 20,000 procedures. Complex interventions are carried out at hospitals located in San Jose, Los Gatos, and Mountain View (ERCP, EUS, ESD, stents), while most conventional and routine endoscopies are performed at the National Ambulatory Surgery Center in Los Gatos.
I often schedule elective endoscopies and colonoscopies 2–3 weeks after the office appointment. Urgent and emergent cases can be done at the hospital within hours or a few days.
I work with a team of anesthesiologists, nurses, and techs who strive to deliver the best care to patients and make the endoscopy experience as easy as possible.

Dr Eduardo da Silveira was incredible! He was very communicative and thoughtful surrounding my needs. I had seen multiple GI doctors in the weeks before and Dr Eduardo da Silveira was by far the most patient, understanding doctor out of them all. He explained what his hypothesis were, why he thought them, and gave me a variety of treatment options and recommendations, letting me decide what I felt the most comfortable with. The doctor is an ordinary diagnostician. Medication prescribed did not work. He doesn't hesitate to jump to antibiotics. For very specific questions, the answer is "it could be due to anything", which is really not helping anybody. A gastroenterologist needs to be better with diet/nutrition knowledge to help the patients better.

My appointment was with Dr. Eduardo da Silveira on 7/21/22. The front office staff was great. I interacted with Jacqueline and she was awesome. Took care of my paper work and was prompt on all associated tasks. She did some pre-screen before my interaction with doctor, like monitoring BP, asking questions on known allergies and covid vaccination. Then I was seen by Dr. Silveira. He was very friendly, very knowledgable, making me feel better with light hearted humour and our interaction went very well. He asked all relevant questions and addressed my concerns. Gave me my treatment options and recommended some tests. My overall experience with In Site Digestive Health was great. I would recommend this place and doctor. 5 Star Service overall.
