Edward Afful is a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), licensed in New York State and based in New York City. He earned his Master’s in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Hunter College, City University of New York, and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Ursuline College. Mr. Afful has over 10 years of experience working in mental health care, including practicing at New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell Westchester Division and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. His scope of practice includes psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment, psychiatric medication management, as well as psychotherapy.
Mr. Afful uses an evidence-based practice model that incorporates standardized diagnostic tools alongside his own wealth of experience to manage individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, and attention-deficit disorders. He is passionate about mental health and treats his patients with empathy and respect. He is based at the Mt. Vernon location of Urban Light Psychiatric NP, a handicapped-accessible, multidisciplinary private clinic specializing in the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and more. He offers psychiatric services through Telehealth and in-office visits to patients of all ages.
Mr. Afful is available for appointments on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. He is also available for brief consultations and support via phone and text messaging between appointments and during crises for daily support.
