Elaine A Melamud, MD, FACOG, has been in solo practice since 2012, after splitting from her long-time partner of 11 years. Dr. Melamud founded her practice on the principle of offering the absolute best obstetric and gynecologic services, rendered by women who intimately understand the needs of and concerns of women. After earning her medical doctorate degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Melamud went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York City’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Melamud is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and takes great pride in being a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Melamud also takes great pride in being a solo practitioner within JFK Medical Associates, a multi-specialty group affiliated with JFK Medical Center. She and her staff continue to practice in Central New Jersey with the same attention, care and respect that have brought many friends from the surrounding areas for the last 10+ years of practice. Dr. Melamud and the staff at JFK Medical Associates welcome you to their practice and look forward to serving the Obstetric and Gynecologic needs of women in the Clark, Westfield, Cranford, Edison, Essex County and the greater NJ area.
Dr Melamud has recently added Dinah Fiona Essein, RNP, a womens health nurse practitioner to her staff. Ms Essein shares Dr. Melamud's vision of excellence in care of women of all ages. She is happily providing annual exams, contraceptive counseling, pregnancy follow up visits, STD screenings and many other services. The front desk staff and the nurses were wonderful! Very friendly and professional! My appointment was with the nurse practitioner, Fiona. She was extremely professional, talked me through each step of the exam, and answered all my questions. I am extremely anxiety ridden during these appointments and she made me feel at ease. I would’ve liked a little bit more hand holding, hah, but I appreciated the straight to the point, let’s get this exam done and get you out of here approach. She knew I was nervous, so she didn’t want to prolong anything. I also highly appreciated explaining everything to me the entire time. I cannot express how much I also enjoyed the other office staff members. The medical assistant/lab tech was excellent. Best blood draw I’ve ever received! I would recommend this office to others, and I plan on remaining a patient here.

Dr. Elaine takes the time to ask questions on your health and how you are doing in general. It took some time to find a gynecologist who takes the time to listen, who is friendly and know her job, but I finally found one in Dr. Melamud which is why I have been going to her for over five years now.

The office staff was very welcoming and nice. Dr Melanie was very courteous and understanding. She listened to all of my questions and provided me with all answers that put me at ease. She did not rush through the examination process and she displayed interest in me as a patient. This was my very first visit with Dr. Melanie and I have to she she was wonderful.

Dr. Melamud was very nice and professional, she answered all my questions and calmed my nerves. My only complaint is the wait to see the doctor. I had a 1pm appointment and apparently the entire office is on lunch until then. I arrived about 10 minutes early so I could fill out paperwork and be ready to go for the appointment and the women at the front desk wouldn't help me at all and told me I had to wait until their lunch was over which is a little ridiculous. Once they gave me the paperwork I still had to wait another 30 minutes for my name to get called and about another 15 for the doctor to get into the room.
