Elena B Mier-Trotter, MD is a Board-Certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist. Dr. Mier-Trotter is bilingual - fluent in English and Spanish. She completed an Ophthalmology Residency at George Washington University Medical Center and an Internship in Internal Medicine at the Georgetown University Medical School District of Columbia General Hospital Program, Washington, DC.
Dr. Mier-Trotter is Fellowship trained in Uveitis and Inflammatory Diseases, at the National Eye Institute , National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.
As well, Dr. Mier-Trotter had completed a Residency in Ophthalmology at the prestigious Hospital for the Prevention of Blindness in Mexico City, Mexico. While there, she had extensive clinical and surgical experience in comprehensive ophthalmology, including corneal surgery. She has also completed a Clinical Cornea Fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York, NY and a Cornea Research Fellowship at the University of Florida, College of Medicine, Gainesville, Florida. She has made presentations at various American and Pan American meetings. She is an author and a co-author of interesting and insightful articles on herpes keratitis and other cornea-related topics.
Dr. Mier-Trotter made a significant contribution to major internationally recognized books and research papers on inflammatory diseases of the eye. She has held the academic position as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the School of Medicine, National University of Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.

She is nice but her staff play favorites with the customers and allow their friends to jump other patients. I have been waiting for over 2 hours I hope they didnt' charge the insurance company either!

We scheduled the appt the night before for an emergency. My child's eye was bloody red b. of the chlorine in the pool. The doctor we usually see was out on vacaction. We never been to this practice, but I highly recommend her. The diagnosis and prescription drugs 100% worked. God Bless her and many thanks.

Very nice woman. I felt very uncomfortable when they speak their language infront of me when they do speak English. They could be talking about me disrespectfully I don't know but I believe it's very disrespectful to do that infront of a customer!!!

There is a little wait, but the service was excellent. Loved the technician, the opthomologist and the guy who helps with getting your glasses. Overall, no complaints.

Dr. Mier-Trotter saved my sight. She found a detached retina and managed to find a surgeon that could see me on a Saturday afternoon. That surgeon found me a specialist at Hopkins that treated me. I cannot recommend her enough.

Dr. Mier-Trotter was fine, but the office itself is typically crowded and uncomfortable (not what I expected for some reason) and it took me a month to get an itemized receipt even after requesting it 1) in person at my first appointment (they said to remind them when i pick up my glasses), 2) in person when I picked up my glasses (and contacts (they said they were about to leave but they would send in the morning. just call to remind), 3) by phone when i called to give them my address the next morning, 4) by phone again when i called them because it had been over a week and half and nothing in the mail (they said oh we didn't send it. they asked for my email and i gave it to them) 5) by phone AGAIN a couple days later because they still hadn't sent it (they finally did email it, over 24 hours after this call).
i get being busy and all but really?
overall summary - great doctors (dr. mier-trotter herself was good as well as the doctor i saw before she came in, whose name escapes me but i do know he is the one who also practiced in Vegas for a bit), not fantastic staff (one of the female receptionists is fairly good though, wish i could remember her name).
