About Dr. Elisabeth Lachmann
For over 25 years, Elisabeth Lachmann MD has been helping patients with back pain, neck pain, sports injuries and other problems associated with Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. As a private practitioner and member of the faculty at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, she has helped patients from all walks of life including top executives at Fortune 500 companies and top law firms in NYC. She is a perennial entrant in Castle Connolly’s list of Top Doctors in New York and in the US. She has frequently been named in New York Magazine’s Best Doctors in New York. She has co-authored over 35 publications in top peer-reviewed journals and has co-written chapters on Physical Rehabilitation in medical textbooks.
Dr. Lachmann graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Bryn Mawr College in 1983 and received her MD from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 1987 . She completed her residency at The New York –Presbyterian Hospital -Weill Cornell Medical Center where she was Chief Resident. She is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She was an Attending Physiatrist at The New York – Presbyterian Hospital working with world-class physicians for 10 years. Dr Lachmann has been in private practice since 2001 and continues to teach residents and medical students while maintaining her academic affiliation with The New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center.

My visit with Elisabeth far exceeded my expectations. She was very friendly upon my arrival and thorough in her examination and assessment. She was very attentive and personable and took time to carefully explain things to me. Dr. Lachmann took my schedule into consideration and scheduled subsequent appointments and follow ups to meet my limited availability. I would definitely recommend her.

I had to wait but it was because a patient showed up unexpectedly and she had to help him. Things like that can happen in a doctor’s office. She was direct, empathetic and helpful.

This is a belated review, but I went to see Dr. Lachmann in a lot of pain desperate to avoid wasting an expensive vacation. She did the exam, arranged for me to get an expedited MRI and get results to her, saw me first thing the next morning and saved my vacation.

However for some reason she always over prescribes me medication. Even the pharmacist were surprised how much I'm receiving.
I keep receiving refills that I never needed for many months later.

This was the third appointment with dr Lachmann. Besides being very professional, competent, thorough and accurate, (she has prescribed and performed a whole series of tests), what really has caught my attention is her kindness and gentleness. I also had the opportunity to exchange feedback with other patients in the waiting room and what they told me on the first visit is real true. I was truly looking forward to my appointment today and I sincerely recommend her.

This was my first visit and I felt Dr.Lachmann gave me her full attention, a thorough exam and evaluation. She was very positive and concerned in discussion my issues with my back. She has sent me for some tests, which the office arrange right there before I left. Once those are reviewed I have a positive sense that she will have a plan of action that will help. I haven't been this hopeful about mu back issues in year.

Dr. Lachmann is very pleasant and took the time to meet with me (I never felt rushed). I also felt that she really listened to me and explained why she did the tests she did. She also sent me for an MRI to get a better idea of what was wrong before she made a final diagnosis. She also made herself very accessible. I would definitely recommend her.

Pros: Pleasent person. Easy to get in. Accepts most insurances. Wants to help ppl get out of pain.
Cons: Office is complete chaos! She is handling office work along with assistant. With no divide between the waiting room and the checking area, you are forced to listen to her make calls. Not incredibly timely. I thought it was an unprofessional environment.
