About Dr. Elise Schroeder

I studied human biology and women’s studies at the University of New York at Albany and earned my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland Oregon. As a naturopath, I have been helping women achieve vitality in their lives since 2001. This healing work has taken many different shapes over the years. I’ve worked as a volunteer doc, as the Executive Director of Women In Balance (an education-focused women’s health institute), in a reproductive health clinic, a multidisciplinary office, a fertility clinic, and I have consulted on thousands of clinical hormone cases as a physician consultant. I am passionate in my role as “Doctor as teacher” or docere and make sure to spend the time necessary to explain and discuss treatment options. When one-on-one with patients, I start the healing process by taking the time to truly listen to their stories. I may recommend lab work and a physical exam if necessary and provide guidance in the form of a comprehensive treatment plan. All are welcome in my practice and I am committed to work that includes deconstructing my biases, prejudices, and stereotypes. As I work on uncovering these layers, deepening my understanding, and practicing change, I recognize that I may make mistakes. I aim to promote equity and repair harm when it happens.
