I chose Pediatrics as a specialty because I was fascinated by the many stages of development from infancy through adolescence. I enjoy helping families navigate the many facets of their children's lives in an optimal and healthy manner. The best part of being a pediatrician is that it is fun. There is nothing better than making an infant giggle during a well-baby exam. I also like showing parents how unique and wonderful each of their children are. I enjoy the teaching part of my job as well. I feel it is important to show medical students and young doctors not only how interesting pediatric diseases are but also how rewarding it is to work with infants, children, teens, and their parents. I hope that I convey to my students and residents the joy I have for working with my many young patients. Of my many experiences outside the office, one that stays with me is the two months I spent in China, where I was able to see traditional Chinese medicine employed alongside Western medicine. I very much enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. I like playing tennis and listening to good music whenever I get the chance. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas. I completed my internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine and a fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston.
