I didn't love this appointment. The physician's assistant didn't tell me what my condition was. When the doctor came in he explained things better, but then rushed me out of the appointment and started discussing my prescription in the waitingroom where people were sitting. I wasn't comfortable discussing my concerns with the side effects of the medication he prescribed in public like that. Overall it was an uncomfortable experience and more disconcerting than reassuring.

I don't doubt Dr. Chynn is a great doctor but my experience at his office was pretty terrible across the board. First, when I came in and was shown to the exam room, I had to listen to him berate theperson checking patients in at the front desk for what seemed like at least 20 minutes. Very unprofessional in my opinion. Second, when he finished yelling at the poor guy up front, he came in and was frustrated that I'd reserved an appointment through ZocDoc instead of calling. He then asked how I was purchasing my contact lenses and I told him I got a discount through my former optometrist. That answer didn't seem satisfactory to him and he provided endless criticism for ordering through an optometrist and not through 1-800-CONTACTS, since I *surely* would get a better deal through the latter (untrue). Third, he didn't even look at my eyes. The technician / nurse / support staff did 100% of the exam, most of which was spent going over my personal information (work history, job title, etc.). How that was relevant to my eyesight and prescription is still unclear to me. The actual eye exam didn't start until 45 minutes after being seated in the exam room. Last, I found that since he is an Ophthalmologist, not an Optometrist, he accepts Medical insurance, not Vision insurance so I got an ear full for giving my Vision insurance card instead of my Medical. I'm sure Dr. Chynn is skilled and knowledgeable but my experience was awful in literally every way.

I booked through ZocDoc but when I showed up, it was not in the system. They were very helpful and the front desk "Mark" was very helpful in fitting me in anyway. He also sorted out my insurance for me asthey had changed my ID number format for some crazy reason and which was not showing up in the system. All in all, I just needed a quick exam for DMV purposes but this place was more for Lasek surgeries.

I booked an appointment at this office to check on my vision and see if I needed to get a new prescription for glasses and contacts. Turns out this is primarily a Lasek surgery location. I was told at the frontdesk that for insurance reasons they could not give me a prescription for both glasses and contacts, and I would need to pick one and then re-book another appointment with them. I chose contacts. My eye exam was performed by someone other than Emil Chynn, who did not speak English very well and had trouble asking me questions or giving directions (where to look, etc.). Before I was able to go, Dr. Chynn came into the room and proceeded to berate the Fellow that had been conducting my exam, as well as the student that was in the room with her. Everything from their poor language skills, to their lack of depth on my exam, to whether they were properly upselling me on the surgery he performs...all while I was sitting in the exam chair without my contacts in my eyes waiting to leave. As I got the OK from Dr. Chynn that I could just take my prescription and leave, the Fellow pulled up a screen with 1-800-Contacts and started asking me which lens brand I had so that she could order for me. When I said I wasn't 100% sure, she gave me a hard time for not knowing what I used, and also tried to tell me that there were ones online that were 'better' for my eyes (despite not knowing what I was already using). All in all, a very poor experience that I would not recommend to anyone!

Dr. Chynn was able to look at my eye and tell me immediately what was wrong, what had caused it and how to avoid it in the future. It was quick and easy. He's not chatty, more no-nonsense but that wasn't a problem for me.

I found the bedside manner appalling - Dr Chynn spent the entire time with me berating the poor associate who had (perfectly professionally) carried out my contact lens exam. He humiliated her in front of me and everyone else who couldhear, leaving her visibly upset and me feeling very uncomfortable. When interacting directly with me, he was confrontational and dismissive. Very bizarre behaviour and completely unwarranted. Would definitely not take my business back here.

They really only want to perform the lasik surgery. make sure you understand that when you make an appointment otherwise you're better off using your time and money more wisely by booking an appointment with an ophthalmologist.

This was by far the weirdest and worst visit to a medical professional, and I use that term loosely, that I have ever experienced. The doctor who was helping me during my eye exam, not Dr. Chynn, left a couple minutesin to speak with Dr. Chynn. I could hear him berating her and a man at the front desk, she then came back and finished the test seemingly unfazed. I got a vibe like this happens all the time... Dr. Chynn later came in with an attitude like he didn't want to be there, used A LOT of profanity, and at one point questioned the mental well-being of my previous Optometrist with words that I'm not able to repeat in this review. To top it off, after everything was over, two employees aggressively tried pushing Lasek surgery on me. I seriously thought I was on a TV show or something... I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Dr. Chynn didn't actually exam my eyes; and didn't feel it was necessary to dig up my chart so I was annoyed I had to fill out new patient forms and try to remember everything about my procedure; This review isfor one of his assistant doctors. She was very thorough and made me feel comfortable.

Dr. Chynn is a stellar surgeon, I chose him after waying my options with many other doctors. However, his bedside manner leaves someting to be desired. He's formal with patients, though his treatment of his own staff is really disrespectful. While I appreciated that he was teaching them to not make mistakes, he could have done so without name calling, especially in front of his patients. I am happy with the results of my surgery, though I did not look forward to my followups. When I reached out to schedule an appointment about something as simple as dry eye, he got defensive and brought up lawsuits?! Not sure what transpired with him and previous patients that led him to jump to such ridiculous conclusions. If he has experienced trouble, I can only guess that it was due to his personality and not due to his stellar work. Do I recommend him? Maybe. His services are solid, but he's an irascible person.

I had a problem in my eye, after 4 visits I still had the same problem, and we had no clue about what was causing it. Every time I went I had to wait way too long, even with an appointment.I didn't see the Doctor most of the time, but had to deal with the interns, and that was not a really good experience when you try to get something fixed and you feel like someone is learning with you. It also lead to very awkward almost angry discussions between the Doctor and the Intern.

He is incredibly rude and condescending to his staff. One of the doctors forgot to ask me a question during my exam and rather than speaking with the doctor afterwards, he spent 10 minutes scolding and berating her with me inthe room until I finally asked him to stop because of how inappropriate it was to do this with a patient in the room. I'm sure he's a very qualified doctor, but his personality is horrible and I would not recommend him!

1) Zocdoc doesn't link up with doctor's actual schedule. I went back and forth over scheduling multiple times... annoying. 2) Even though I filled out paperwork online through Zocdoc, I still had to fill it out when I got to theoffice 3) Office Managers were confused making for a very frustrating check in/check out process 4) Fellow working with Dr. Chynn seems to be unfamiliar with U.S. practices... unacceptable. Dr. Chynn had to explain everything to him and they went back and forth on what kind of prescription to give to me. This was uncomfortable and took up so much time. 5) They told me to take out my contacts and didn't have a proper room to do so. If I didn't ask for the bathroom, I think they would have expected me to pluck them out right then and there with no solution and no contact lens case. 6) They pushed Lasik surgery on me the whole time until I finally yelled, "I'M NOT INTERESTED." 7) Dr. Chynn told me repeatedly that he doesn't make any money off of glasses/contact lenses. Made me feel like my visit was unimportant. 8) I hated my experience and will NEVER EVER go back.

I am about a month post-op. Having worn glasses/contacts since elementary school, it is absolutely incredible to be able to see clearly without them. I was legally blind with an extreme myopic prescription and now I am seeing perfectly! I havedone a lot of research and visited other laser vision surgeons and chose Dr. Chynn over everyone because he learned from the best (Harvard, Emory, Dartmouth, NYU) and created the safer-than-LASIK LASEK himself! Dr. Chynn also had LASIK done years ago and still experiences dry eyes. However, according to the reviews here and himself, there are no complications such as dry eyes after LASEK as long as you strictly follow the post-op recovery directions Additionally, the staff is very informative and definitely know what they’re doing. They addressed all my doubts and worries professionally and I left with complete trust in them. If you don’t believe me, go in for a free consultation yourself!

Unless you like seeing different fellows and staff (all are very kind and professional) take care of your eyes and have a ill mannered doctor. I've visited this office over 18 times from prep, surgeries and post opt visits. I sawover 6 different fellows through out the process (each one resigned) and saw Dr Emil 3x. After each time Dr. Emil made it more and more uncomfortable for me to trust his judgement and expertise because he is rude and has this air that he's better than his fellows and staff. I understand the fellows are in training but it's very degrading to discipline and scold his fellows before a patient. No wonder his staff and fellows are ever changing and mistakes are on my chart. Although he got my eyes to see much better than before, I still do not have 20/20 vision.

I searched ZocDoc for an ophthalmologist to treat an eye infection and Dr. Chynn was the closest listed on ZocDoc so I gave him a try. I showed up and quickly learned that I ended up at a lasik eye surgerycenter. I walked in to Dr. Chynn complaining to his front desk assistant about not thoroughly completing paperwork for the last patient he saw. The marketing here is heavy. The front desk assistant greeted me, and after learning I was only there to get the eye infection checked out, proceeded to tell me about the benefits of lasik and handed me a package with different surgery programs and price. Dr. Chynn saw me after a 10-15 wait. He looked through my paperwork then excused himself to go out to complain to his front desk assistant bout not completely my paperwork thoroughly. This happened with the door to the room open, so I heard everything. Then the front desk assistant walked in to ask me the same questions (allergies, etc.) that Dr. Chynn needed to know because for whatever reason, he didn't want to ask me directly. Afterwards, I overheard the assistant relay my responses to Dr. Chynn who waited outside and had listened in. Dr. Chynn walked in and gave me my consultation, after of which he asked me if I had ever considered lasik and tried to upsell me again. This was an entertaining visit, but Dr. Chynn is an expert in the field and I got what I needed from him.

Before going with Dr. Chynn, I did extensive research ranging from lasik to prk and in different locations (I'm from VA), however at the end of the day, I still chose to get the procedure done here. Amongst Dr. Chynn's credentialsand experience, there were also several reasons that steered me back. One of the most important was the safeness of the procedure-- I already have dry eyes and severe halos, I don't need anymore, and this procedure would completely eliminate them. In addition, to take care of my dry eye situation, I came in for punctual plugs (which didnt do much for me), but then again for them to cauterize my lower tear ducts. All of this was easy and (almost) painless, but most importantly, they took initiative to take care of my problems before the procedure. Another perk is that their finance guy, Tarek, will work with you to find ways to reduce the cost if necessary! I'm scheduled for my procedure in the next couple weeks! Wish me luck! Will update soon after :-)

Haven't used ZocDoc in a while, so this review is catching up on my experience over the last 2 years visiting Dr. Chynn: I contacted him, when I initially thought about getting non-flap LASEK. He takes great patience in explaining theprocess, answering all questions and concerns and even emails sent out late night got answered that same night. So after hesitating first I decided a few months later to get the surgery. Now to make a long and very pleasant story short; the surgery went very well, all follow up visits by the doctor and his staff were outstanding and they really try everything to ensure you're having great results. BUT they also depend on YOU the patient to ensure you are following the rules and instructions given to you after the surgery. So if you think about LASEK, see Dr Chynn!!

Although he is extremely busy with tons of clients and doesn't have a lot of face time with each individual, his support staff of doctors are very helpful and knowledgeable and the equipment and procedures are all state-of-the-art. What mostimpressed me was how regimented and comprehensive the pre-op/post-op protocols given to me to follow were. This did a lot to assuage my anxiety about the procedure as I felt every possible precaution was being taken to ensure no complications.

Park Avenue Laser Vision was the third office I visited after I decided to get laser corrective surgery. First, your first visit is to make sure you are a good candidate for this type of laser surgery. Best part? No needto dilate my pupils! What a relief after EVERY place I’ve been to before insisted it was necessary, especially since these visits were right before work. Second, whether speaking to a fellow or the front desk, everyone was educated enough to answer all my questions. Third, when it comes to payments there is no Used Car salesmen techniques. WYSIWYG at this place. Post-op review will be posted in the coming weeks.
