More about Dr. Eric Angermeier, MD

Dr. Angermeier has called Charleston home for over 20 years. After completing the prestigious hand fellowship program at Duke University, he was recruited back to Charleston and served five years on the hand surgery faculty at MUSC. There he achieved the most advanced level of Board Certification for Hand Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, built a comprehensive hand and wrist surgery practice, developed innovative techniques through research, and helped to educate future hand surgeons. Dr. Angermeier then went on to co-found Hand Institute of Charleston with the philosophy that the highest possible quality of care could be achieved by assembling a world-class team that focuses exclusively on disorders of the hand and wrist. He offers highly specialized and customized operative and nonoperative treatment options for chronic hand and wrist problems, and also for injuries of the hand and wrist. He has a particular interest in minimally-invasive and opiod-sparing techniques. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, surfing, and fishing.

I was very happy with my appointment. I was able to make a same day appointment online and the process was quick and easy. The staff was friendly and I was seen by the Doctor immediately after speaking to the nurse. I didn’t have to wait in the room for 30 min to an hour like most offices. The doctor knew exactly what was wrong and took the time to explain treatment and my options. I highly recommend this office!
The doctor did not seem to really care very much about my issues. His assistants helped me find a medication that has helped a good bit. I am "self pay" so I asked to pay in-full and they said "OK"; even gave me a discount. 4 days later they sent me another bill for about 25% more. I won't be going back and I won't recommend this doctor to anyone, especially a friend.

My hand really hurts - but walked out with no cure yet - I told that to Dr. A , that I have had this pain for almost 2 months now…hoping time would heal it - which is what he told me is what it needs. So how long is this going to take? Another month? 2 months? Half a year? I feel it is getting worst , not getting any better. I was hoping for more solid resolution. Still waiting for a call from the custom cast person… no one has called me yet. So this review is a little early - let’s see what happens.
The nurse was so nice and helpful. She went out of her way to answer my questions. Dr. Angermeier was there promptly and took time to answer my questions and explain the surgery I was thinking of having. He is an outstanding doctor!
