Very personable and helpful. Definitely found my doc!
Makes you feel comfortable
My first visit to Beacon Family Health Care was wonderful. Everyone working in the office was very welcoming and respectful, including Dr. Swegler. Not only was the office atmosphere calm and relaxed, but I felt never rushed at any stage. Dr. Swegler is patient and compassionate. She seemed to really want to understand my health concerns and how they played into the broader context of my life, so we could best address it. They were also able to draw my blood on site so I didn't have to drive to a separate lab. I highly recommend this practice to anyone, especially those interested in more personalized care.
Dr Erica Swegler is a excellent Doctor.
As always, Dr. Swegler was sweet, attentive, caring, and it made me feel great that she was proud of my recent weight loss :) she's always so supportive and I'm so glad I found her!
Kind, caring and very attentive to my medical needs. Did not feel rushed and left with a sense of calm in my treatment.
Very thorough and easy to speak with
Though the rest of the medical staff was very kind and helpful, Dr. Swegler was not. I understand not all doctors have the best bedside manner but hers was practically non-existent. I don’t think she smiled once! Not to mention the fact that she talked down to me, scoffed when I told her my career plans (I’m a student) and made me feel stupid for asking her questions. I’m sure she’s smart and knowledgeable but she has no manners or people skills to speak of. If you want a no-nonsense, no personality doctor who’s strictly business - she’s your girl! But, if you want to be treated like a human who’s going to the doctor to not feel judged or like an inconvenience, look far, far away.
Dr. Swegler is extremely knowledgeable and spends her time getting to know her patients as a person, not just another number. Dr. Swegler is very kind hearted and listened to everything I had to say. My only issue I experienced was that Dr. Swegler speaks VERY FAST, and I found myself asking her to repeat herself. Overall, I am very happy with my new Primary Care physician!!
When discussing a basic health screening I was interested in, I mentioned being interested in genetic testing because I'm adopted and know nothing of my ancestry, biological health history, or predisposition risks. She brushed it off as it is a waste of money and couldn't really understand why someone would bother with it. I'm guessing she meant something along the lines of they cost a ton and aren't all that accurate but there wasn't a tinge of empathy and it's clear she hasn't spent much time thinking about what it must be like to have all of that stuff a mystery. Her actual medical ability seemed spot on, so if that's all that is important, I'm sure this would be a fine practice to go with.
I was in good hands, with everyone at Dr Erica Swegler Office
As always, I'm more than pleased and grateful for Dr. Swegler. Without her helping me these past couple of years, I don't know if I would even be here right now. She has helped and gotten me through the toughest time of my life. I truly appreciate her and everything she has done for me!
I’ve sort of bounced from doctor to doctor ever since leaving my pediatrician when I aged out. Most doctors it seemed would spend 2 minutes talking to me, listen to my heart, and call it a day. But I really felt like Dr. Swegler was taking the time to get to know me and learn what my concerns were, and that was so appreciated. She’s warm and friendly and the nurses and the rest of the staff are so kind. I’m really happy I found this place. It honestly feels like you’re walking into a cute little house, very inviting atmosphere. Thank you!
As always, she was amazing, caring and thorough. Dr. Swegler is a fantastic Doctor and woman.
I had a horrible experience. Not only was I seen over 30 minutes late, she was rude. She showed no empathy to my diagnosis. In no was was she interested in answering any of my questions or providing any positive feedback. I was visually crying and upset and not once did she try to make sure I knew my treatment options. Also, she forgot to send my prescription to the pharmacy. This was the most uncomfortable doctor visit I have ever had.
Hidden gem of doctors offices in Austin. Has long and alternate hours which is perfect for those of is who cant just skip out of work. Worth spending a bit more to go in at odd hours to avoid city traffic. Level of support from staff is great and the front desk is quick and polite. The waiting area and rooms are really comfortable and not intimidating like so many cookie cutter places. Have recommended to coworkers.
She listened to me, administered screening tests relevant to my condition, but in her opinion, the results were borderline between two diagnoses, so she gave me a number to call for additional help. However, the number was specifically geared towards only one diagnosis of the diagnosis which would have made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to have a FAIR, UNBAISED EVALUATION between the two diagnoses especially since that resource only treats & is only paid to treat that one diagnosis. Thererefore, ultimately this resource referral makes it impossible to gain access to a fair evaluation of BOTH diagnoses to properly address my medical needs. However, it is not her fault that our medical system is biased against certain medical conditions & treatments. Moreover, it is not her fault that our medical system only compensates for certain medical conditions over others. So I am still struggling with my condition & left to live in misunderstood misery waiting for an economically affordable option. The most devastating aspect of my condition is that the longer my condition goes untreated the more it costs me in EVERY SINGLE AREA OF MY LIFE)-=
Dr. Swegler was awesome. Very caring and kind. Not a single issue with her or her office
I really like Dr. Swegler because she is thorough and explains a lot about your symptoms and why she is prescribing what she is prescribing. I appreciate all the explanation and details! The waiting room area is a bit kitschy (does not feel sterile), but Dr. Swegler and the office staff is great!
Dr. Swegler is incredibly intelligent, very personable and super attentive. She was great!
Highly recommend Dr. Swegler! Very caring and experienced.
Good I hope she can help.me
She was amazing as always!
I find Dr.Swegler to be top of the line for her professionalism, courtesy, and for making it easy to talk to her! She has already made a huge and positive impact with my health & improved the quality of my life in a very short time! Im very impressed!
Very professional and thorough. I appreciate the time she took to listen to me and help me.
She is clearly very knowledgeable, experienced, and smart.
Dr. Swegler is a God send . She's really gotten me through the tough times I was going through. Very thankful for her!
Incredibly professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Dr Swegler outlined my treatment plan and made sure I understood all of my options. She is the first doctor I've had in a while that seemed to genuinely care about my concerns and addressed them fully. The staff was also friendly and helpful. I just moved to Austin and will definitely be using this clinic for my primary care.
Came in with stomach issues and constipation. After a quick assessment, Dr Segler suspected appendicitis. She called the ER and recommended I go there. Within 5 hours I was in emergency surgery getting my appendix out. If not for her quick and correct assessment, my issue could have become much worse according to the surgeon.
Dr. Swegler was amazing as always ? don't know what I'd do without her these past several months!! And the girls that work for her are kind and amazing as well!
It was a great experience!
Very frustrating experience. At my first visit, I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and prescribed an antibiotic. I never got fully better (I'll be honest, I didn't completely finish the antibiotic though), and I felt myself getting sicker again, so I went back for another appointment. This time, I was prescribed a different antibiotic, and told that I may have bronchitis or walking pneumonia. I was told that I needed to get an x-ray to be sure. When I went to get the x-ray, I was told that the form didn't say which service I was supposed to be getting, so they had to call the doctors' office to find out. Both times when I tried to pick up my prescription, CVS told me they hadn't received the prescription, and I had to call back and forth several times asking the doctor to send it again. The doctor told me that she would call me with the results of my x-rays immediately, but I didn't receive a call for several days, and when I did, the nurse left a voicemail saying that my x-ray looked "normal." Well, based on how I was feeling, I was clearly sick, so what was wrong with me then? I wanted to know what the implications of that were, so I called back to find out...the nurse didn't know, so she said she would ask the doctor and call me back. They did call me back after a few more days, but overall I felt like I had to do all the legwork myself to get my prescriptions filled and find out what was wrong with me.
I love Dr. Swegler, she's very understanding and listens to what you need!
The front desk staff were very kind. However, the nurse was very unprofessional and clearly unkonwledgeable. Dr. Swegler was nice but abrupt, and didn't really ask any questions even though it was my first visit. She also didn't seem to want to spend ANY time in the room and kept sending the nurse who looked like it was her first time being in a patients room (despite having worked there since January according to her).
Very friendly and was thorough in her questions - highly recommend.
The office is a little difficult to find and the lobby environment was strange... It is full of mismatched, overstuffed, old couches and chairs rather than the usual sterile doctor's office and I felt a bit like I was at my grandparents' house. It took more than 30min to be called back and my entire appointment took two hours, so I would be cautious if you are in a hurry. I had to fill out all of the check-in paperwork, despite having checked in via zocdoc, so I don't know how up-to-speed they are. As for Dr. Swegler-- She is very pro-vaccine and our conversation got side-tracked a couple of times because she wanted to talk to me about my options, which were totally unrelated to the current issue. She also ordered bloodwork without fully explaining to me what we're looking for, when I would heard back, or how the results would affect treatment...that was a little confusing. Finally, I have seen her several times before when she worked at another practice and she addressed me as if we have never met and made it clear she does not know me. I understand doctors see a lot of people but I found this disappointing, especially because I had even noted on zocdoc that I've seen her before. Overall though she is thoughtful and fully listens to your concerns and I left the appointment satisfied that she would work with me.
So condescending would never want to visit her again.
She was a great, caring doctor. Didn't have to wait long before I was seen, and she made me feel very comfortable. Highly recommend her.
So happy to have become a patient of Dr. Swegler! I will recommend her to everyone I know looking for a new Primary Care Doctor.
She's very pleasant!!!
Really great office with nice people.
It was great. The wait really wasn't bad at all and Dr. Swegler is very knowledgeable! Great first visit.
Wonderful bedside manner. She really took her time and made me feel as if she was concerned.
Very informative and helpful. I really appreciate it!
I thought she was real knowledgeable and thorough. I came in for a minor condition and she handled it with grace and made me feel respected
Dr. Swegler was the best doctor I have seen in a long time. She took the time to listen to what I needed and she was very thorough and responsive. I would highly recommend her!
