Getting to know Ericka King

I’m a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner trained at Vanderbilt University, providing thoughtful, individualized care for adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, depression, and life transitions. I take a collaborative and practical approach, combining medication management with supportive, evidence-based strategies to help you feel more balanced, focused, and in control. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and not rushed. We will take the time to understand what’s been going on and develop a clear, personalized plan that fits your needs and lifestyle. I value a holistic perspective and often incorporate lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress, and daily routines into treatment. Many of the adults I work with are high-functioning individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or not like themselves, and are looking for both clarity and a clearer path forward. Whether you’re starting care for the first time or looking for a more intentional approach, I aim to make the process feel approachable, supportive, and effective.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Patients can expect a thoughtful, structured approach that balances listening with clear next steps. Sessions are focused on understanding what’s contributing to your symptoms while also identifying practical ways to start feeling better. When appropriate, we will discuss medication options in a straightforward, collaborative way so you feel informed and comfortable with your treatment plan. I prioritize creating a calm, non-judgmental space while also being direct and goal-oriented. You won’t be left wondering what to do next. We will work together to develop a plan that feels realistic and manageable. Over time, the goal is for patients to feel more stable, clearer in their thinking, and more in control of their day-to-day functioning.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work typically begins with a comprehensive evaluation to understand your symptoms, history, and goals. I take a thoughtful and thorough approach so we can develop an accurate diagnosis and a clear treatment plan. When appropriate, this may include medication, along with practical strategies to support your day-to-day functioning. Follow-up visits are focused and collaborative, allowing us to monitor progress, make adjustments, and ensure your treatment is working effectively. I incorporate supportive, evidence-based techniques during sessions, but my primary focus is medication management and helping patients feel more stable, clear, and in control over time.

Ericka is a knowledgeable and attentive healer. She listened to me and applied her knowledge to my situation. I was engaged and felt included in the treatment strategy she disused with me. I look forward to our future sessions.
