Dr. Erika Kappes Zavyalov is a board-certified psychiatrist originally from the Northern Virginia area. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia and attended medical school at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. She was commissioned as an Army Officer prior to attending medical school and went on to complete her residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where she served as Chief Resident. After residency, she was stationed at Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield near Savannah, Georgia, where she worked in multiple embedded behavioral health clinics, inpatient settings, hospital clinics, and as a behavioral health consultant to Army leadership. She also has experience with telepsychiatry and concierge medicine.
Dr. Kappes has a passion for mental and physical wellness and she strives to provide concierge-level care to each patient. Her main interests lie in nutrition, holistic and integrative psychiatry, performance optimization, and pharmacology.
Dr. Erika Kappes Zavyalov is committed to helping her patients function more optimally in their lives. She includes medication (when appropriate), lifestyle changes, nutritional changes, and therapy in treatment. She also has an interest in de-prescribing and works to help patients optimize medication regimens or come off medication if indicated.
