Dr. Stuart Hedgpeth is a board-eligible psychiatrist with 4 years of experience since graduation from medical school. While Dr. Hedgpeth primarily focuses on medication management, he understands that mental health often requires approaches from multiple perspectives. Psychodynamic and supportive therapies are offered on an as-needed basis in addition to medication management. New patients are provided 60 minutes for initial visits and follow ups are given 30 minutes.
Dr. Hedgpeth graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. He completed his adult psychiatry residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, VA.
Dr. Hedgpeth's training has positioned him to care for adults of all ages with a wide spectrum mental health disorders and related conditions. In his residency he sought out additional experience working with patients undergoing treatment for HIV, patients with trauma-related disorders, and the LGBTQ+ population.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

Dr Hedgpeth LISTENS. I highly recommend him. I felt heard and seen after my visit with Dr Hedgpeth. I did not feel rushed or overlooked. The entire session was comforting and I felt free to express my thoughts and feelings without the need to withhold information because of judgement. He was very open about his concerns and next steps. Dr Hedgpeth would also ask if I felt comfortable about his recommendations instead of forcing me to accept it. My next appointment was planned before ending our session, immediate prescription, and additional referrals. If you're looking for someone who LISTENS, Dr Hedgpeth is the one.

I definitely recommend him, he is a great listener and makes you feel safe and helps you feel more secure about yourself when explaining what is going on. He is very careful with his diagnosis and words and make sure that you are comfortable with the whole process as well as treatment and explains everything thoroughly even if the session is being cut short he makes sure he explains everything and that all your questions are being answered.
