Dr. Akselrod is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, fellow of American College of Ob/GYN, and fellow of American College of Surgeons. Dr. Akselrod earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the State University of New York, Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn and received training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Nassau University Medical Center. Upon completion of training, Dr. Akselrod was invited to serve as a Medical Director of Family Planning and Colposcopy. In this capacity, she was involved in clinical research in the field of obstetrics, gynecology, and oncology and greatly contributed to research projects presented on National and International professional meetings.
In 2006, in collaboration with Dr. Bekker, Dr. Akselrod established Advanced Gynecology and Surgery, a private practice specializing in Gynecology and Gynecologic Surgeries.

Dr. Akselrod is good but gave me about 15-20 Mins of her time and I was in her office for over 3 hours! I have been her patient for a few years and it has always been this way. If the wait time wasn't bad enough, her receptionists are very rude and nasty to all the patients and really do not want to assist you with anything, even making an appointment. Dr. Akselrod is not an exceptional doctor for whom I'd be willing to put up with such treatment. For these reasons, I will not recommend coming here.

My first visit with the doctor last year was ok. This year about 2 weeks ago I had an appointment. The front desk staff was very unprofessional and my wait time was over a hour . After realizing they where seeing people that came in after me . I was told sorry the girl that checked me in was new . I also was charged a co payment later to find out my insurance doesnt have not co pay for annual pap smears. So I decided to rebook against better judgment. They call me the day before appointment and I missed the call checked my voice mail no message just heavy breathing . I call office back reception told me yeah we call check your voice mail. On that note I'm done with this office . I wish doctor had a different location

My visit left me with a good impression. The staff was attentive enough and made my visit comfortable. The office is clean and once my name was called, all the services were fast, however i waited close to an hour to be called. Apart from the waiting time, I would recommend this office.

Waited 1.5 hours for a consultation about birth control with the doctor. Tons of patients in the waiting room so clearly they never run on time. Was told it will be a few minutes every time i inquired. Staff is nonchalant about the wait, or really dont care about the wait. The doctor however was great, she listened to my concerns and worked with my options and was very knowledgeable. I'd go to her again if the wait wasnt insanely long - and the office so badly coordinated!

She had a cold bedside manner that made me distrust the information she was telling me. And as noted in the other reviews, the wait time was ridiculous. 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment I was told there were at least 3-4 people ahead of me. Really? Finally saw the doctor an hour + after my schedule appointment. Visited this doctor/office in May 2017.

I didn't have a problem waiting or talking in detail of what my problems were. My only issue was when she was having facial expression conversation with the nurse or assistant. I'm already insecure about myself and it took me two years to go back to a doctor and to have them make silent comments about whatever it was they were looking at will probably set me back further. And yes I am aware of the yearly visits but this doesn't help.

My visit exceeded my expectations, the receptionist, nurse and technician were polite and efficient. The doctor took time to talk to me before and after my examination and answered all my concerns. I would highly recommend Dr. Akselrod to anyone looking for a doctor.
