Getting to know Fatmata Bangura

Managing mental health concerns or difficulty adapting to change can feel overwhelming, especially if you're trying to cope on your own. My goal is to offer a welcoming space where you can share your thoughts, concerns, and aspirations with genuine support and understanding. I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Master's in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Wilkes University. I also hold a Bachelor's degree from Frostburg State University and an Associate's degree from Frederick Community College. I draw upon diverse clinical experiences to provide well-rounded care. Over the course of my career, I've spent two years focused on psychiatric practice, seven years in an intensive care unit, three years specializing in behavioral health, and three years teaching as an adjunct nursing professor. These varied roles have shaped my holistic approach, blending evidence-based treatments with compassionate insight. In my practice, I believe in true collaboration-working side by side to develop customized care plans that respect your individual needs. Whether you're seeking an evaluation, medication management, or a deeper exploration of proven therapeutic strategies, I am here to guide and support you. If you're ready to take the next step toward improved mental health, let's walk that path together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe healing happens best through connection and collaboration. I take the time to listen carefully, understand your goals, and create treatment plans that align with your values and preferences. Whether you’re navigating new stressors, managing chronic conditions, or exploring therapeutic options, I’ll walk beside you with compassion and expertise.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with a comprehensive evaluation where I get to know you—not just your symptoms, but your story. From there, we’ll develop a personalized plan that may include medication support, therapeutic interventions, or a combination of both. Throughout our journey, I prioritize open communication and shared decision-making to keep your care flexible, supportive, and effective.

Very easy to talk to and knowledgeable. Felt really at ease when talking to her. She listened to me and provided me with appropriate care.
Verified patientVideo visit
Great listener, easy to talk to, and she takes her time to talk and listen to you. You can see she genuinely cares. I liked her right away.

Great listener and very understanding!
Verified patientVideo visit
Has bad bedside manner and talks over what you are saying. Caused me more trauma and does not understand mental illness. I was showing signs of a severe mental episode and was hung up on. She only cares about the easy parts of her job and getting paid. I hope more people do not have to suffer under her "care".

Dr. Fatmata is everything I could hope for in mental health care. She’s incredibly personable, a great listener, and made me feel completely comfortable during our appointment. Despite it being a medical setting, it didn’t feel cold or clinical at all. She was friendly, engaging, and even made me laugh. I felt truly heard and cared for. It was easy to open up and express everything I needed. She genuinely cares, and it shows. I’m so grateful to have found her.

She does not listen and does not have a good bedside manner. She does not understand mental illness or when someone is triggered and makes her mentally ill patients sicker because of this. She is clearly in this line of work for the easy video calls and does not care about patients.

My appointment was scheduled and the original time was changed by the office but it went well. The service is wonderful and really makes you feel respected and valued for your concerns about mental health. I wish all physicians of all kind ask more clarifying questions when a patient seems confused or needs help grasping a concept. Everyone needs to heal and be heard. To be understood and feel safe to be honest about symptoms and not over looked for their words

Definitely made me feel very comfortable.

I give my phych dr 5 stars I explained to her what I was dealing with and how my Dr really did something unethical and totally inhumane
Video visit
My first time trying therapy and the whole process was smooth. She listened to my concerns and problems helped with solutions and we’re working on goals. I found my therapist couldn’t be happier.
Verified patientVideo visit
The provider herself was incredibly communicative and understanding, but I’m a bit frustrated by the way my appointment was handled. I indicated pretty clearly what I needed the appointment for when making it, yet was told later that they did not have providers that could treat me. It was a waste of time unfortunately.
