About Dr. Figen Altunkaya

Dr. Figen was raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She earned her medical degree from Istanbul Üniversitesi, Istanbul Tip Fakültesi (Istanbul University School of Medicine at Çapa). She completed her postgraduate training in Pediatrics at New York Medical College and Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) in Staten Island, NY, where she received the highest qualifications during her educational experience. At RUMC, she was presented the “Mario J. Merlino” award, which is given to the “most professional and caring” graduating resident. Today, she continues mentoring nursing students in the urgent care setting, where she also practices. Dr. Figen is proficient in English and Turkish and is affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In our office, it is our policy to follow as closely as possible the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) regarding the care of infants, children, and young adults. Therefore, we urge that all children receive a yearly complete examination and that immunizations are kept current. Our provider is in good standing with the major pediatric organizations in the U.S., and our office follows their recommendations when instituting new pediatric procedures, techniques, drugs, and vaccines. Please be aware of your insurance plan’s coverage, as they have different rules regarding the number of well visits and immunizations they will pay for each year.
