Getting to know Gail Elder-Battle

I am a double board-certified Nurse Practitioner in Adult Acute Care and Psychiatric Mental Health, with more than 19 years of healthcare experience and a passion for providing thoughtful, personalized mental health care. I work with adults ages 20-64 experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, stress, burnout, and other mood-related concerns, and I strive to create a space where patients feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported. *Please be advised I do NOT prescribe controlled substances*

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients can expect a warm, collaborative, and personalized approach to care. I take time to listen, understand the full picture, and develop a treatment plan tailored to each person’s needs and goals. My style is thoughtful, nonjudgmental, and evidence-based, with a holistic focus that considers both symptoms and the factors contributing to them. I value patient education, shared decision-making, and creating a supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a pre-screening form and a free 15-minute telephone consultation to help determine whether I am the best fit for your mental health needs. If we move forward, the initial evaluation is a comprehensive visit where I take time to understand your symptoms, history, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals. I then create an individualized, evidence-based treatment plan that may include diagnostic clarification, medication management when appropriate, education, and holistic treatment considerations. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring progress and adjusting treatment as needed. While I use supportive, therapeutic communication, my practice is primarily centered on psychiatric evaluation and medication management rather than ongoing weekly psychotherapy. Please note that I do not prescribe controlled substances, including Ativan, Xanax, Valium, Adderall, Concerta, or Vyvanse. My practice focuses on evidence-based, non-controlled treatment options that support long-term mental wellness.

We make every effort to verify your insurance benefits as a courtesy; however, it is ultimately your responsibility to confirm that I am in-network with your specific insurance plan and to understand your coverage prior to your appointment. Because insurance plans vary, benefit verification is not a guarantee of payment or coverage. Any copays, deductibles, coinsurance, or services not covered by your insurance are the patient’s financial responsibility. We encourage patients to contact their insurance company directly to confirm network status and expected out-of-pocket costs so there are no surprises.
